About the Role

BDO is seeking an AML/CTF Compliance Officer at Senior Management level to support the leadership and delivery of our Anti‑Money Laundering and Counter‑Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) framework. As a Tranche 2 firm, BDO will be required to comply with the AML/CTF Act from 1 July 2026, and this role will play a critical part in ensuring our readiness and ongoing compliance.

Reporting into senior leadership, you will take day‑to‑day responsibility for the AML/CTF program, supporting risk‑based assessments of clients and staff, maintaining robust controls, and acting as a key liaison with regulators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage BDO’s compliance with the AML/CTF Act and Rules

  • Lead the day‑to‑day operation of the AML/CTF program and AML/CTF team

  • Develop, implement and maintain AML/CTF policies, procedures and systems

  • Act as BDO’s primary contact with AUSTRAC, including regulatory reporting

  • Report regularly to the Board and Senior Management on AML/CTF matters

  • Respond to regulatory feedback and support remediation activities

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • 7 years or more of experience managing an AML/CTF program or framework

  • Strong knowledge of the AML/CTF Act and Rules

  • Experience communicating and reporting to AUSTRAC

  • Knowledge of the new bill concerning tranche 2 firms (not essential)

  • Experience leading onshore/offshore teams within an AML function

  • Familiarity with AML/CTF due diligence platforms (FirstAML highly regarded)

  • Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, business, accounting or similar (preferred)
