Job Description

About the team and the role

Sydney Airport operates one of Australia's most important pieces of critical infrastructure. As Manager, Risk and Compliance, you will support the effective operation and continuous improvement of Sydney Airport's enterprise risk and compliance frameworks, helping ensure risks and obligations are effectively identified, managed and monitored across the business.

Reporting to the General Manager, Risk and Company Secretary, you'll partner with stakeholders across the organisation to support risk management, compliance activities, governance reporting and continuous improvement initiatives. You'll play a key role in strengthening risk and compliance practices while helping foster a strong culture of accountability, transparency and speaking up.

Working across a broad range of business functions, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to major projects, strategic initiatives and business change activities, ensuring risk and compliance considerations are embedded into decision making and day-to-day operations. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your expertise and make a meaningful impact in a complex and dynamic environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to

  • Support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of Sydney Airport's Risk and Compliance Management Framework.
  • Partner with business units to identify, assess and monitor risks, compliance obligations and controls.
  • Support major projects, strategic initiatives and business change activities by ensuring risk and compliance considerations are integrated throughout the lifecycle.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and coordinate impact assessments and implementation activities across the business.
  • Support assurance activities, incident reporting and remediation programs.
  • Prepare risk and compliance reporting for the Leadership Team, Audit & Risk Committee and other governance forums.
  • Support the development of a strong risk, compliance and speak-up culture through training, guidance and awareness initiatives.
  • Help improve risk and compliance reporting, data quality, dashboards and analytics to support better decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate and strengthen risk and compliance processes and systems.

About you

You have a solid foundation in risk management and exposure to compliance, governance or assurance activities, and you're looking to broaden your experience in a complex and dynamic environment.

Naturally curious and solutions-focused, you enjoy understanding how things work and aren't afraid to ask questions or challenge the status quo. You take ownership, build strong relationships and are motivated by finding practical solutions that deliver real business outcomes.

You're equally comfortable working with detail and engaging with stakeholders, and you have a genuine interest in helping organisations manage risk in a way that supports better decision-making. While you may not have experience across every aspect of risk and compliance, you're eager to learn, build capability and contribute from day one.

Most importantly, you're a doer. You bring initiative, adaptability and a willingness to roll up your sleeves to get things done.

You'll bring

  • Experience in risk management, compliance, governance, assurance, audit or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience supporting enterprise risk management activities within a complex or regulated environment.
  • An understanding of risk management, compliance, governance and internal control practices.
  • The ability to interpret regulatory or business requirements and translate them into practical actions and outcomes.
  • Experience preparing reports and communicating insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Experience working with systems, data, reporting, dashboards or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build trusted relationships across a broad stakeholder group.
  • High standards of integrity, judgement, accuracy and professionalism.
  • Relevant risk or compliance qualifications will be highly regarded.
