The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Line 2 Risk team as a Manager – Risk, supporting the Line 2 oversight of cyber, technology, and data risk across QBE’s AUSPAC division. This role is pivotal in ensuring our resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment. You’ll provide independent oversight and assurance over cyber, technology, and data risk management practices, while also supporting uplift through advisory and engagement. Your work will directly support compliance with CPS 234 and CPS 230 and influence risk-aware decision-making at the highest levels.
Your new role
As Manager – Risk, you will:
- Partner with the Head of 2nd Line Oversight and Technology, Cyber and Data teams to enhance QBE AUSPAC’s risk management practices.
- Provide independent oversight and challenge of Line 1 activities, including incident and issue management.
- Deliver clear, actionable insights through business-friendly reporting for executive and board stakeholders.
- Conduct thematic reviews and deep dives into cyber, technology, and data risk areas.
- Advise on the design and effectiveness of controls, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Contribute to integrated assurance plans and the development of enterprise-wide risk, compliance, and assurance frameworks.
- Engage regularly with senior leaders to influence accountability and uplift risk maturity.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Proven experience in cyber or technology industry
- A strong understanding of risk and control fundamentals, business processes, and assurance methods.
- Experience in either Line 1 or 2 risk and compliance functions in financial services industry
- Confidence in engaging with stakeholders at all levels—from frontline teams to executive leadership.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to translate complex risk concepts into practical, value-driven recommendations.
- Strong written communication skills
