The opportunity

Are you an experienced communications professional looking to make a global impact? Due to internal movement, we have two exciting opportunities available within our External Communications team.

In these roles, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, strategically aligned media and external communications to develop, protect, and enhance our QBE’s reputation across the Australia Pacific region and globally.

Your new role

In this role you will:

  • Drive the execution of the external communications and media engagement strategy to support organisational objectives and strategic priorities.

  • Develop and implement communication plans to ensure timely, coordinated, and effective messaging across various programs and stakeholder engagements.

  • Manage proactive and reactive media engagement, ensuring alignment with corporate guidelines and strategic priorities.

  • Monitor and manage key reputational issues, providing appropriate escalation and response strategies as needed.

  • Keep internal stakeholders, including senior management and leadership teams, informed of key external communication activities, media developments, and emerging risks.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, particularly senior executives, to align messaging and enhance corporate positioning.

  • Establish and nurture a network across internal communications teams and external partners to drive consistency and collaboration.

  • Lead the development and execution of external engagement plans, ensuring they are aligned with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.

About you

  • Extensive experience in external communications, media relations, or corporate affairs, ideally within financial services or insurance.

  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging messages.

  • Ability to develop and support the creation of thought leadership pieces and develop content for various media mediums.

  • Strong media relationships and an understanding of the evolving media landscape.

  • Proven ability to manage reputational risks and crisis communications effectively.

  • Experience engaging with senior executives and stakeholders in a corporate environment.

  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work across teams and geographies.
