WHAT YOU’LL DO
Middle Office provides independent control of trading activities and is responsible for validating the trading balance sheet and ensuring the accuracy of P&L reporting. The team supports the business by providing timely and accurate information and ensuring that operational requirements are optimised. Middle Office provides the link to our (outsourced) back-office teams, and internally works closely with Trading, Risk, Compliance, Financial Control, and Management Reporting. The essence of this role requires:
- Accountability for the execution and timely reporting of daily P&L though validation and ownership of the trading balance sheet, trading position reporting, in-line with global policy
- Ownership of the month end Trading ledger process, ensuring accounting in accordance with IFRS pronouncements
- Creating simplified reporting to understand and explain desk trading strategies
- Applying your knowledge of technology to create solutions for the monitoring, reporting and accounting of financial instruments
- Be the primary escalation point for the Middle Office Team to advise, train and assist the Team in delivering workflow efficiencies
- Guiding and supporting junior team members
- Identifying and initiating small projects to improve efficiencies
- Supporting Middle Office team with ad hoc improvement requests
- Ensuring operational optimisation for new trading initiatives
WHO YOU ARE
- Information Technology, Data Science or related degree and/or Finance or related degree with strong technology and data capabilities
- Australian citizen or permanent resident
- 3+ years in creating and delivering Technology based solutions, with additional experience in Data Science or AI solutions desirable
- Strong understanding of coding and creating automated solutions
- Proficient in Databricks, Python, SQL: AI Agent development experience desirable
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to create scalable solutions
- Self-Starter with strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
