Job Description

About the Role

We’re searching for the next valued member of the TCCD team to help deliver the next phase of our growth journey. This is a critical role in our business: you’ll take ownership of national customer relationships and drive commercial outcomes across Australia’s independent grocery ecosystem — including national wholesalers and banner groups.  You’ll lead joint business planning, promotions, and category initiatives that grow distribution, share of shelf, and ROI to achieve our revenue, spend and market share goals.

We’re a high performing and connected team privileged to represent tier‑1 brands through our partnership with Procter & Gamble, bringing real ownership, fast decisions, and visible impact. Proudly recognised with Supplier of the Year awards across several of our key partners, we don’t just put our values on a wall; we live them every day in how we partner, plan, and execute together.

You’ll report to the National Business Manager and collaborate with customers, Procter and Gamble and our dedicated independent field team that covers 800+ of the top independent stores nationally

What You'll Be Working On:

  • National customer management for independent grocery: own the customer plan, calendar, and pipeline across Metcash and key banner groups
  • Annual & quarterly JBPs: targets, distribution, promotions, displays, and new product launches
  • Promotional strategy & ROI: brief, negotiate, and review campaigns; optimize trade spend and mechanics
  • Category development: planograms, shelf principles, merchandising standards, and path‑to‑purchase initiatives with the support of our category manager
  • Forecasting: revenue and spend planning with Finance; manage risks and opportunities
  • Field execution: partner with operations team to deliver flawless instore execution

Core Responsibilities (Must‑Have Skills)

  • Deliver Gross sales, trade spend and market share targets for your national category portfolio
  • Negotiate pricing, and promotional programs; manage accruals, claims, and investment ROI
  • Build trusted, long‑term relationships with buying teams; be the voice of the customer internally
  • Use modern commercial tools (Microsoft 365/Copilot, tableau, analytics dashboards) to make faster, smarter decisions
  • Partner cross‑functionally (Field operations, Finance, Client, Supply) to resolve issues fast and unlock growth

Stretch Responsibilities (Bonus Skills)

  • Lead retailer specific category projects and co-develop end to end category solution programs with customers
  • Pilot AI enhanced account planning
  • Coach broader TCCD team members, both HQ and field on execution priorities.

Who You Are:

Essential

  • Values driven, proactive, hands on; thrives in an agile, small company environment
  • A willingness to learn, you may not have all the skills from day 1 but are open to feedback and have a learning mindset
  • Strong commercial acumen: P&L understanding, pricing, mix management, trade spend optimization
  • Experience working with field sales teams and retail execution
  • 3+ years in Key account management
  • Negotiation experience across JBPs, ranging, and promotions
  • Comfortable with data (Excel/Power BI) and modern tools (Microsoft 365, Copilot)
  • Ability to prioritise in a complex environment

Bonus

  • Experience with national wholesalers and banner groups within independent grocery
  • Formal category management training
  • Exposure to AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to streamline workflows, and insight generation

Working Environment:

We have a culture of being in‑market right where customers, retailers, and our clients operate. This is the coalface, where business truly happens and where we spark the creative ideas that drive sales growth. We value teamwork, collaboration, and knowledge‑sharing, while also enjoying 3 dedicated days together in our beautiful Walsh Bay office on the water.

There you’ll find our barista serving free morning coffee, daily breakfast provided, inspiring office space, and a values‑led team culture that makes working together both rewarding and impactful.
