THE OPPORTUNITY

At Johnson and Johnson, we are dedicated to addressing and solving some of the most important unmet medical needs of our time. As the National Business Manager, Solid Tumours you will play a pivotal leadership role, leading and coaching a diverse team of Account Managers, working on in-market and launching oncology treatments.

This position requires an experienced manager with a depth of expertise in driving high-performing teams and commercial success in a complex, highly competitive and matrixed environment.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering national business results through a proven ability to guide, motivate, and develop a team of professionals, with the ultimate aim of achieving optimal patient outcomes. This leadership position requires someone who can leverage their extensive background in sales and people management to enhance customer awareness, knowledge, and understanding of the company's products and services, while forging strong, lasting partnerships across the sector, and functions achieving high levels of engagement and impactful cross-functional relationships.

 

A passion for innovation, a history of building high-trust relationships, and a reputation for consistently achieving ambitious targets are essential for success in this role.

 

This role is designed for a high-potential people leader with the ambition, curiosity and enterprise mindset to grow into broader leadership roles within Johnson & Johnson. Beyond leading national sales execution, the successful candidate will be expected to build strategic commercial breadth, strengthen cross-functional influence, develop future talent, and contribute meaningfully to the broader oncology and enterprise agenda. We are looking for someone motivated to grow with the company, stretch beyond their current scope, and build the capabilities required for larger leadership opportunities over time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • People leadership, coaching and talent development: Directly lead, coach and mentor a national team of 8 experienced Account Managers, building a high-performance culture grounded in accountability, inclusion, trust and continuous development.
  • Team capability and future pipeline: Strengthen advanced selling, key account management, therapeutic area and product knowledge across the team, while identifying and developing future leaders through clear development plans and regular performance conversations.
  • Commercial strategy and execution: Shape and execute national sales and brand strategies for the J&J Solid Tumours portfolio, translating business priorities into disciplined national, state and account plans that drive awareness, adoption and business performance.
  • Performance delivery and market agility: Lead execution of national plans with strong operating discipline, using market trends, customer insights, lead indicators and performance data to adjust priorities, unlock growth and deliver financial results.
  • Market development and future opportunity: Proactively assess the solid tumour landscape to identify where Johnson & Johnson should prioritise focus, deepen customer engagement and build readiness for future portfolio opportunities.
  • Cross-functional and enterprise leadership: Act as a core member of the Solid Tumours cross-functional leadership team, connecting field insights, customer needs, brand priorities and future portfolio opportunities to inform stronger business planning, budget decisions and strategic choices beyond the sales function.
  • Customer and account impact: Facilitate strong cross-functional collaboration to ensure high-quality state and account plans deliver meaningful value for customers, patients and Johnson & Johnson.
  • Governance and resource stewardship: Provide input into business planning, sales strategy, budget and organisational strategic planning processes, including full ownership of the sales team T&E budget.
  • Personal leadership and growth: Take ownership of your own professional development, demonstrating learning agility, curiosity and the ambition to grow into broader commercial and enterprise leadership opportunities over time.

ABOUT YOU

  • Pharmaceutical and commercial leadership experience: Essential experience within the pharmaceutical industry, with a strong track record across sales, marketing and people management in complex or fast-evolving environments.
  • People leadership and coaching: Proven ability to lead, coach and develop high-performing teams, bringing out the best in people and fostering a culture of coaching, accountability and performance.
  • Commercial acumen and strategic execution: Strong commercial acumen, strategic planning capability and achievement drive, with evidence of translating strategy into clear execution plans and delivering business results.
  • Change leadership and business transformation: Proven ability to lead through change, ambiguity and transformation, bringing clarity, energy and discipline to teams while maintaining strong engagement and performance.
  • Cross-functional influence and stakeholder engagement: Successful track record of leading with influence in a matrixed cross-functional environment, building trusted relationships and communicating effectively across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer and market orientation: Customer-focused mindset with a collaborative, results-oriented approach and the ability to connect customer needs, market dynamics and business priorities.
  • Learning agility and broader leadership potential: Demonstrated appetite and potential to grow into broader commercial, cross-functional or enterprise leadership roles, with evidence of learning agility, strategic thinking, stakeholder influence and talent development.
