Focus of the Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and passionate network engineer to join the Defence Engineering team. In the role you will work as part of the engineering team which focuses on the development, deployment and management of ICT capabilities.

Being in our Defence business means you'll be working to provide secure network and solutions for our defence customer segment.
What you’ll work on
We are on the lookout for Network Engineer who can work towards our strategic direction for the development across a range of platforms including; Enterprise LAN/WAN, Wireless and Gateway network solutions and infrastructure in a large scale, complex and distributed business environment.
These positions can be in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne or Adelaide.
Key Responsibilities
Day to day activities in this role will see you analysing statements of work, validating bills of materials, engaging customers and stakeholders, completing detailed network designs and writing implementation instructions to see your designs go from design to delivered.
An understanding and hands on experience with network architectures, routing, switching, wireless and associated technologies.
Demonstrate implementation skills, creative problem solving, strategic planning and advanced communication skills.
Engage with all project stakeholders as peers and challenge their decisions when necessary to provide them with the best outcome.
Analyse complex scenarios across multiple knowledge areas.
Regularly identify and present solutions to meet stakeholder objectives.
Facilitate and effectively communicate with your peers and customers using relevant formats and medium.
Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
Pragmatic, analytical and sound judgement.
Deliver work to agreed performance standards whether as an individual, part of a team or a leader of a team.
Hold a current security clearance to work on Federal agencies (NV1 or NV2) projects.
About You
You will have skills and experiences in these areas:
Solutioning LAN/WAN and Wireless design and concepts.
Installation/Implementation of Switches and Routers and their configuration.
Routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS), STP, LACP, QoS, BFD, Virtual Routing instances and Routing policies.
Firewalls and Security policies.
Prioritising, QOS, Load Balancing and Managing Data Flows, VPNs and Securing Network Devices.
Network gateway experience is advantageous.
Carrier Grade platform IP MPLS/BGP based networks to provide Layer 2 and 3 services.
Favourable certifications
CCNA
JNCIA
Associate level vendor equivalent
Candidates must be Australian Citizens and have current NV1 clearance minimum to be considered. This role will require you to hold and maintain an Australian Government NV1 security clearance.
