About the role

As an Assistant Operations Manager (Ops Squad Lead) within SEEK Pass, you’ll be part of a cross-functional squad responsible for designing, delivering and optimising world-class products that add trust to employment-related claims across SEEK’s marketplaces. Reporting to the sub-domain Operations leader, you’ll operate in a shared leadership model alongside your Product and Engineering co-leads, jointly owning the squad’s vision, roadmap and operational outcomes for a key trust-related Job to be Done.

Success in this role over the first 6–12 months looks like a clearly defined and executed squad roadmap, smooth operationalisation of new features, strong stakeholder relationships, and measurable improvements in operational performance and customer outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering co-leads to define and communicate the squad’s vision, roadmap and OKRs, ensuring clear alignment to sub-domain and SEEK Pass priorities.
  • Use data and operational insights to identify optimisation opportunities, inform prioritisation and support data-driven decision making across the squad’s work.
  • Define operational and product requirements and facilitate collaboration sessions to design practical, purpose-built solutions that enhance our verification and customer experiences.
  • Oversee the smooth operationalisation of new product features, including planning, forecasting and monitoring operational impact, and coordinating collateral and stakeholder communications.
  • Build and maintain strong internal customer and stakeholder relationships across engineering, UX, operations and product teams to enable effective delivery at pace.
  • Manage multiple priorities and initiatives concurrently, clearly communicating trade-offs and progress while embodying SEEK Pass’ purpose, principles and behaviours.
  • Contribute to broader operations activity, including resourcing, onboarding and training team members, ensuring compliance with policies and SOPs, and supporting accurate credential verification and customer support interactions.

The Team
SEEK Pass is a cross-functional scale-up that operates as a distinct business unit in SEEK. We currently employ over ~100 people across software engineering, product, operations, and commercial teams in Melbourne, Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. This role is based in Sydney, but occasional brief travel may be required.

This role reports to the sub-domain Operations leader. While you have no direct reports, you will work closely with engineers, UX designers, operational staff & product people .

Qualifications

Skills and experience

  • Experience as a lead within a team, with a track record of influencing and collaborating effectively across multiple functions and stakeholder groups.
  • Strong data-driven mindset, with experience defining and monitoring key operational metrics, interpreting trends and using insights to drive continuous improvement.
  • High level of comfort with ambiguity and working in an agile, test-and-learn environment, ideally in a tech, product or start-up/scale-up context.
  • Good high-level understanding of, or strong desire to learn, key technology concepts and how digital products are designed, built and operated in cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional judgement, prioritisation and decision-making skills, with the ability to focus on the critical few things that move the needle for customers and the business.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus a positive, can-do attitude, resilience and ownership mentality; experience scaling operations, working with agile software teams or using data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Sisense) is highly regarded.
