About the Opportunity

The role of the Payroll Coordinator provides a high standard of support to enable successful and smooth payroll processing across HammondCare Residential. The Payroll Officer assists in the process and maintenance of accurate and up to date payroll records and contributes to ensuring HammondCare meets legislative requirements, in addition to supporting with the running of payroll operations each fortnight and weekly adjustment run.

This is a fixed term contract for 12 months with hybrid working opportunities.

The role can be based at St Leonards in Sydney or either Malvern, Caulfield or Yarraville in Melbourne.  

How you’ll make an impact

Payroll Processing & Administration 

• Support the accurate and timely processing of the fortnightly payroll, including employee changes, leave, deductions and other payroll transactions
• Maintain accurate employee payroll records, ensuring new starter information, leave balances and payroll data are processed correctly and on time
• Process termination payments, ETPs, overpayment recoveries, purchased leave and other payroll calculations and entitlements
• Prepare payroll reports and provide ad hoc reporting as required

Payroll Compliance 

• Support payroll compliance with relevant legislation, Awards and Agreements, including PAYG tax, superannuation, salary sacrifice and other statutory or authorised deductions
• Maintain current knowledge of payroll legislation, processes, procedures and best practices through ongoing learning and use of training and process documentation 

Employee & Manager Support 

• Provide timely and professional payroll support and guidance to employees and managers, including queries relating to Workday and UKG (Time & Attendance) 
• Manage Salesforce payroll cases professionally and efficiently, working towards independently resolving enquiries where appropriate
• Deliver a professional, accurate and customer-focused payroll service to employees and stakeholders 

Payroll Systems & Problem Solving 

• Develop proficiency in UKG and other payroll systems, including investigating and troubleshooting payroll and time and attendance issues
• Build technical payroll knowledge and problem-solving capability to independently manage increasingly complex payroll matters
• Identify issues and work collaboratively to support effective and accurate payroll outcomes

Teamwork & Continuous Development 

• Work collaboratively with the Payroll team and broader business to achieve payroll objectives and provide a high-quality service
• Strengthen payroll knowledge through ongoing learning, training and practical application
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and teamwork

About you

• Commitment to engage with and align to HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action 

• Minimum two years’ Australian payroll experience, with sound end-to-end payroll knowledge and understanding of payroll best practices 

• Strong experience in process improvement, quality and compliance.

• Strong organisational, time management and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to deliver accurate, high-quality work 

• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills 

• Ability to build effective stakeholder relationships, influence outcomes, and work both independently and collaborativel  

• Experience using Chris21/iChris and KRONOS/KRONOS Dimensions is highly regarded.  

• Relevant industry experience is desirable. 

Desirable   

• Experience in aged care / health settings  
• Experienced in operating effectively in a multi-site environment.   
• Experience using iChris/Chris21, Workday, or UKG
