Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO   

As our Payroll Implementation Specialist, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end implementation of the new payroll and award interpretation systems, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency while training and coordinating stakeholders, managing risks, and delivering a seamless transition. By the time you join the team, the project will be in the prepare to build phase. You will lead the final implementation, overseeing solution configuration, testing, stakeholder engagement, and go-live readiness. 

Implementation & Resource Allocation 

  • Responsible for managing all remaining phases of the project including defining objectives, setting timelines, and allocating resources 

  • Coordinate the delivery of the implementation project alongside our internal, external and global stakeholders 

  • Oversee data cleansing, migration and validation activities whilst ensuring collaboration and ownership of configuration and testing 

  • Manage change, training, communication, and post-go-live support to drive adoption 

Compliance 

  • Oversee interpretation of the Enterprise and Collective Agreements as well as relevant Awards and clauses and legislation, ensuring they are properly captured and paid correctly 

  • Lead the validation, configuration, and testing of the payroll solution, ensuring the final system delivers accurate payroll processing and meets all legislative and compliance requirements. 

Risk Management 

  • Proactively spot potential risks, work through solutions, and drive actions that keep the implementation on track and payroll outcomes accurate and compliant 

  • Ensure adherence to procedures, security measures, and legal requirements throughout the project lifecycle 

  • Provide training to stakeholders and end-users to ensure successful adoption of the software

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH  

Reporting to the Payroll Responsible, you will partner closely with the Payroll Coordinators, People Manager, Finance, and global stakeholders to lead the successful delivery of the payroll implementation. You'll also build strong relationships with internal Retail teams and external partners to ensure a compliant, efficient, and seamless rollout. 

WHO YOU ARE   

We are looking for people who are… 

  • Skilled in overseeing payroll operations with precision, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing 

  • Knowledgeable about tax laws, wage regulations, and labour policies to ensure compliance and accurate payments 

  • Able to work alongside cross-functional teams and drive collaboration 

  • Proactive problem-solvers with a results-oriented mindset 

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess strong leadership and clear communication skills 

You will have:

  • At least 5 years experience in payroll, payroll management or HR solutions 

  • A strong focus and understanding of software implementation will be highly regarded 

  • Strong understanding of end to payroll processes across AU and NZ legislation, enterprise and collective agreement, award interpretation and translation to payroll compliance 

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
