About role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and people-centric Payroll Manager based in Sydney to manage end-to-end payroll operations across Australia and New Zealand. This individual will be responsible for ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, overseeing third-party payments, and handling year-end reconciliation. The role requires a hands-on professional with strong technical expertise and a collaborative mindset.
Role responsibilities
- Manage and run end-to-end payroll cycles for both Australia and New Zealand.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations, including superannuation, payroll tax, and third-party payments.
- Lead year-end reconciliation, reporting, and audit processes.
- Liaise with internal teams and external vendors to resolve payroll-related queries.
- Act as the subject matter expert for payroll policies, legislation updates, and best practices.
- Maintain and update payroll records accurately across systems.
- Collaborate closely with HR and Finance teams to support employee experience and data integrity.
- Oversee ADP payroll processing and integrate insights from other platforms as needed.
Role requirements
- Proven end-to-end payroll experience across both AU and NZ, including compliance with regional tax laws and statutory requirements.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance (superannuation, payroll tax, year-end processes).
- Experience with ADP and familiarity with multiple payroll systems/platforms.
- Proven ability to manage payroll operations independently.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive data confidentially.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — a people-centric mindset is a must.
