About the Role: 

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Payroll Officer with 1–2 years of payroll experience to join our growing payroll team. Reporting directly to the Payroll Lead, you will support the accurate, end-to-end processing of our domestic payroll and gain valuable exposure to international outsourced payroll operations.

This role offers comprehensive, hands-on training and mentorship from our Payroll Lead. It is a fantastic opportunity for a junior payroll professional looking to step up, expand their skillset, and grow within a supportive corporate environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • AU Payroll Processing: Support and process accurate and compliant end-to-end fortnightly payroll while maintaining strict data integrity across HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Earnings & Variable Pay Management: Review time and attendance data, calculate overtime, and oversee the administration and calculation of commissions and variable allowances, ensuring correct Modern Award interpretations are applied.
  • End-of-Month & Statutory Compliance: Complete PAYG, superannuation lodgements, manual payroll adjustments in strict alignment with current ATO and statutory legislation.
  • Query Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, providing timely, professional, and empathetic support to employees and external agencies (such as the ATO, super funds, and Centrelink).
  • International Exposure: Assist in overseeing outsourced payroll operations for global regions.
  • Ad-hoc Support & Administration:
    • Audit Assistance: Assist the Payroll Lead in preparing documentation, pulling reports, and providing support for internal and external payroll audits.
    • Year-End Support: Participate in annual payroll year-end processing and support ongoing payroll projects as needed.
    • Reporting & Admin: Prepare basic monthly&ad-hoc payroll reports for management and handle routine payroll administrative tasks.

Requirements
  • Experience: 1–2 years of experience in a hands-on payroll processing role within Australia.
  • Knowledge: Solid foundational understanding of Australian payroll legislation, Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rules, PAYG, and Modern Awards.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Excel (competent with basic formulas, data sorting, and spreadsheets). Experience with major payroll/HRIS systems (e.g., Xero, Employment Hero) is highly regarded.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional data entry accuracy and a sharp eye for identifying anomalies in high-volume earnings or attendance data.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to resolve employee queries professionally and confidently.
  • Attitude: A proactive learner who takes initiative, maintains high confidentiality, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.
  • Language Proficiency: Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin (both written and verbal) is essential, as this role involves regular communication with multilingual teams and stakeholders.
