The People Partner, is a people partnering role for Telstra Enterprise, focused on driving the people plan and supporting all aspects of HR business partnering

As a People Partner you can’t resist a complex problem – not if it involves people and puts you at the heart of our change journey. Your creativity comes from having one eye on scanning for problems and another on strategy - you see all of these as opportunities to flex your solution design muscle and improve the way our organisation operates.

This is a 9-month fixed term opportunity.

Your key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Define the capability shifts required to achieve our 2030 Strategy, translating the workforce strategy in to an execution plan.
  • Use curiosity and listening skills to understand what’s going on for your key business stakeholders – their big objectives and challenges.  Where there’s a people element, help them to diagnose the problem and create strategies that also serve our enterprise goals.  
  • Influence business leaders to make sound strategic decisions that improve their organisational models.  This includes gathering organisational data, making sense of it, and understand the external industry trends. Use this information to contribute to the design, implementation and embedding of this change with leaders  
  • Contribute to or lead components of improved organisational design activities, using Telstra’s organisational design methods and keeping the employee experience front of mind. This might range from simple design work to complex cross-functional organisational design projects. 
  • Use change management principles, tools and methodologies to implement and embed change, continuing to use data and design to uncover and solve problems until it’s well and truly embedded.  
  • Use core HR knowledge such as employee relations, recruitment processes, redundancy policies/processes, talent principles and management, remuneration principles/frameworks and Ways of Working methodologies at Telstra in our mission work to design the change requirements and in the implementation of our mission outcomes.  
  • Collect, synthesise and use organisational data and have an understanding of industry trends to anticipate and resolve complex issues. Use this data to uncover the root cause of an issue as well as uncover the benefits and risks of a range of innovative solutions. This may be a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to guide the design of appropriate solutions. 
  • Actively build strong relationships across the chapter to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to support improvements in chapter effectiveness and customer experience. Contribute to Chapter led initiatives 
  • Partner up with HR Centres of Excellence (CoEs) where required for delivery, collaborating as one team.
  • Ability to attract, retain and develop talent and influence senior leaders
  • Empowering leaders to deliver on our CF30 strategy
  • Strengthening company culture, bringing to life our Big 3 and improving our employee experience and engagement

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience in HR Business Partnering or People Partnering.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment/industrial relations, change management strategy, organisation design and redundancy policies/processes.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with an ability to build credibility with senior leaders and executive stakeholders
  • A strong ability to translate data into insights and be commercially astute
  • Expertise in driving organizational change, from structural transformation to culture shifts. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to build sustainable, scalable solutions and processes to meet complex strategic problems
  • Excellent consulting skills and the ability to ask the right questions and influence.
