Introduction

We are looking for an experienced Performance Test Engineer to join our Engineering & Architecture, Core Services team on an 18 Month Maximum Term Contract. This is a newly created position, you will be building a performance and load testing framework and defining the overall test strategy. You will be defining and implementing comprehensive performance testing strategies, including best practices and standards.

You will be responsible for developing and executing a range of tests, including load, stress, endurance, and scalability testing. Analysing system behaviour under load and providing actionable insights to improve performance Collaborating with engineering teams to integrate performance testing into the development lifecycle.

This is a hands on engineering role where you can take ownership of your work, contribute to building from the design to execution phase, make technical decisions, and help build a strong, scalable platform that supports our trading platform.

What you’ll be working on?

This role focuses on performance testing of C#/.NET applications deployed in AWS, using k6 as the primary performance testing tool. You will work closely with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to ensure our platforms are scalable, reliable, and performant under real-world load. You will also play a key part in building platforms from scratch, ensuring they are designed and tested to perform effectively under real world conditions.

You’ll lead performance and non-functional testing across critical trading platforms, ensuring they remain scalable, resilient, and responsive. You will design, execute, and continuously improve performance testing for high-availability systems across both on premise and cloud-based environments.

  • Design, develop, and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests using k6

  • Build and maintain reusable performance test frameworks and scripts

  • Analyse test results to identify bottlenecks across application, database, and infrastructure layers

  • Collaborate with developers to diagnose performance issues and validate fixes

  • Test cloud-native architectures deployed in AWS

  • Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines

  • Define and monitor performance KPIs, SLAs, and non-functional requirements

  • Produce clear performance test reports with actionable recommendations

  • Support capacity planning and performance tuning initiatives

  • Advocate for performance testing best practices across teams

This is a key role in shaping how performance quality is built and measured across our Trading platform.  Offering the opportunity to make a real impact from the ground up. You will be an integral part of the team, contributing to both the enhancement of our existing platform and the development of new capabilities.

What will help you be successful?

  • Must have 5+ years of experience as a Performance Tester

  • Strong experience in performance and non-functional testing

  • Must have strong experience with K6 (JavaScript-based scripting)

  • Experience testing C# / .NET applications

  • Solid understanding of AWS cloud architecture and distributed systems

  • Experience with REST APIs, HTTP protocols, and JSON

  • Ability to analyse performance metrics (CPU, memory, latency, throughput, error rates)

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub Actions)

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with stakeholders

  • An understanding of financial services or stockbroking platforms will be beneficial, but not essential
