The Opportunity
 
Macquarie Cloud is looking for a Principal Consultant with deep Microsoft Azure expertise to help shape, influence and lead complex cloud opportunities, with a strong focus on supporting Federal and State Government customers. 
 
This is a senior pre-sales consulting role where Azure is front and centre. You’ll work closely with sales, technical, product and engineering teams to build trusted customer relationships, guide strategic cloud conversations, and bring complex Azure and managed services solutions to life across secure, regulated and mission-critical environments, including Federal and State Government. 
 
Regular travel to Canberra is required to support customer engagements and ongoing stakeholder relationships.

What you’ll be doing.

    • Lead technical conversations across Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture and managed services opportunities with new and existing customers, including Federal and State Government. 

    • Partner with Account Directors, BDMs and technical teams to shape Azure-led solutions, proposals, bids and tender responses, particularly for complex public-sector opportunities. 

      • Act as the senior technical interface between customers and internal teams during the sales cycle and project initiation stage, with a strong understanding of government customer requirements where applicable. 

        • Build trusted relationships with senior customer stakeholders, Microsoft representatives, alliance partners and internal teams.

            • Support go-to-market planning, customer workshops, Azure positioning, thought leadership and sales enablement activity tailored to government and enterprise customer needs. 

              • Contribute to strategic account planning, competitive positioning and the development of reusable sales assets.

        • You enjoy mentoring others and helping sales teams build confidence in technical conversations. 

          • You’re motivated by strategy, customer impact and the opportunity to help grow a high-performing cloud technology business. 

About You.

    • Strong experience in a senior consulting, pre-sales, solution architecture or technical advisory role with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure and cloud services. 

    • Deep hands-on understanding of Microsoft Azure, including Azure architecture, cloud migration, modernisation, managed services and customer solution design. 

      • Experience working with complex enterprise customers, ideally across Azure, cloud managed services, hybrid cloud, public-sector customers or highly regulated environments. 

        • Microsoft Security experience, including MDR, XDR, Defender or Sentinel, would be highly regarded and add strong value to the role. 

          • Confidence presenting to senior stakeholders, including C-level, executive and senior public-sector audiences. 

            • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear commercial outcomes and customer value. 

              • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to contribute to go-to-market strategy, solution positioning and competitive differentiation. 

                • Experience working with Federal or State Government customers, public-sector procurement, secure cloud environments or government bids and tenders would be highly regarded.
