Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
We have an opportunity at nbn, as a Principal Data Architect reporting to the Executive Manager, Data & Analytics Architecture.
A bit about your role
The Principal Data Architect defines, governs and evolves nbn’s enterprise‑wide ontology and data models that support the digital twin, knowledge graph and broader data ecosystem. The role provides leadership across all major business domains to ensure semantic consistency, alignment with enterprise data modelling practices, and integration into analytics, automation and AI‑driven decision‑making.
It oversees ontology and data model governance, quality assurance, and standards, enables digital‑twin and advanced analytics use cases, and works closely with key stakeholders across the organisation while maintaining alignment with industry standards.
A bit about you
The ideal candidate has strong expertise in enterprise ontology engineering and enterprise data modelling, supported by formal training in data architecture or semantic technologies. They bring deep capability across conceptual, logical, canonical and physical data modelling, with the ability to integrate these models into semantic frameworks—ideally within telecommunications or other complex asset‑based environments.
They are highly skilled in RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL and graph databases, and can effectively communicate and influence senior technical and business stakeholders. The role also requires strong analytical, planning, organisational and governance skills to drive alignment and quality across enterprise ontology and data modelling practices.
