A Snapshot

As the Principal ICT Engineer - Development reporting to our Engineering and Commissioning, Senior Director, (based in our HQ in Sydney), you will work closely with our Development and Technology teams, making an impact in several ways:

  • Act as the technical leader responsible for overseeing design, delivery and integration of ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) systems across new data centre developments.
  • Asist in providing strategic direction, technical expertise, engineering leadership, oversight of critical ICT infrastructure, applications and integration with security and DCS (Distributed Control Systems) services.
  • Design delivery lead of ICT, for numerous data centre projects in APME, managing through from concept design to approved for construction documentation.
  • Building and ensuring governance throughout the ICT design process of new data centre projects.
  • Collaboration with the wider AirTrunk technology, engineering and delivery teams to ensure seamless integration and commissioning of ICT data centre infrastructure.
  • Working closely with external teams including general contractors, suppliers and consultants to meet all AirTrunk Global Minimum Standards, to enable successful ICT systems delivery, commissioning and operational handover.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
  • Provide expert technical input for procurement, RFPs, and contract negotiations.
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure adherence to enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.

Your Day to Day

  • Oversee design consultants and general contractors in developing ICT services design submissions from schematic through IFC (Issued for Construction) documentation
  • Work closely with ICT project integrators and independent consultants to ensure successful configuration, startup, commissioning quality of ICT services to support critical data centre applications.
  • Work closely technical peer reviewers and the design team to drive issue resolution of contractor’s design.
  • Work closely with the AirTrunk Technology team to provide valuable project execution feedback and share industry knowledge to enhance AirTrunk ICT standards for data centre builds and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to the AirTrunk Commissioning Team if design driven issues are identified during testing and commissioning.
  • Occasionally conduct site visits to ensure installation ICT services are installed in accordance with approved design documentation.
  • Occasionally travel to AirTrunk Data Centres in APME to conduct site, design and opportunity reviews.
  • Occasionally attend and provide expert advice on risks and opportunities through equipment Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) a proof-of-concept testing.
  • Occasionally assist AirTrunk operational teams with complex ICT systems integrations, and issue troubleshooting. 

Requirements

  • Demonstrated 10+ years in ICT engineering roles, with 5+ years in senior/lead engineering or ICT architectural positions (data center experience preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
  • Proven experience delivering large-scale ICT programs and enterprise systems.
  • Incredibly flexible and adaptable to a dynamic fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Willing to make decisions and be accountable for them.
  • Excel at communication with the ability to deliver effective presentations on data center design to customers, peers, and management.
