The opportunity
The Privacy Lead plays a key role in shaping and strengthening QBE’s approach to privacy and responsible data use. Working as part of the Group Privacy Team, this role partners closely with the business to manage privacy risk, uplift capability, and embed privacy‑by‑design across data, technology and AI initiatives.

Your new role
As Privacy Lead, you will support QBE’s Group and AUSPAC Division by providing trusted, pragmatic privacy advice while helping to evolve our privacy strategy, governance and risk management maturity. You’ll work collaboratively across the organisation, influencing outcomes and ensuring privacy considerations are embedded into business decision‑making.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering high‑quality privacy advice, including undertaking Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and managing privacy incidents, complaints and enquiries
Partnering with Technology, Data, AI and project teams to identify, assess and manage privacy, ethical and regulatory risks
Embedding privacy‑by‑design, ethical design and responsible AI principles across initiatives and programs
Supporting the implementation of Group privacy, data and AI policies within the AUSPAC business
Contributing to the continuous improvement of privacy policies, standards, training and awareness across the organisation
Supporting privacy governance, reporting, metrics and insights for senior leaders and key stakeholders
About you
You are a confident privacy professional with deep subject matter expertise and a pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach. You enjoy partnering with the business, can balance competing priorities, and are comfortable operating autonomously in a complex, fast‑paced environment. You bring strong judgement, clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Key requirements:
Proven experience advising on privacy risk, Privacy Impact Assessments and incident management
Strong knowledge of privacy obligations, data ethics and emerging technologies, including AI
Experience working in large, complex organisations with diverse stakeholder groups
Demonstrated ability to prioritise, triage and manage multiple privacy matters effectively
Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and communication skills
Experience in insurance or financial services is advantageous, but not essential
