As a Procurement Manager you will be responsible to implement the procurement organization as well as a wide range of procurement policies & processes, frame agreements, e-contracts, e-sourcing, and digital procurement tools to operate during and after the go live of the Terminal.

The position is expected to deliver results in a timely manner as non-delivery has a direct impact on the terminals ability to function with great sense of compliance and values of the company.

The procurement Manager is also responsible for Procurement activities in all APMT facilities in the country based in the global Policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the purchasing team in the efficient acquisition of services, inventory, supplies, and capital equipment for the company.
  • Supervise tender procedures, evaluate bids, and select suppliers based on their capabilities and criteria.
  • Establish and execute procurement procedures in alignment with corporate guidelines and policies.
  • Stay updated on market trends, prices, technology, and supplier capabilities.
  • Control spending and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Lead logistics activities such as international transportation and customs clearance.
  • Support the company in improving procurement practices and supplier performance management.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases and vendor relationships.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs. Collaborate with senior management in defining strategic objectives and purchasing goals.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in procurement processes and propose innovative solutions.
  • Analyze the performance of the procurement department and present reports to senior management.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of strategic business initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree &/or Master’s in Engineering, logistics, supply chain management or business preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience in the private industry and at least 2 years of team leadership experience; experience in the industrial sector, with purchases of maintenance, spare parts, facilities management, repairs, mining, heavy machinery will be considered a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement practices, customs laws, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to influence and lead a team effectively.
  • Proficiency in procurement software applications, including Excel and other office tools.
  • Advanced English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of financial and accounting principles.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to company values.
  • Proactive attitude, ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex projects simultaneously.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to develop the expertise of a young team.
  • Desirable knowledge of logistics and free trade zones.
  • Availability to work in the city and the port of Quetzal.
