What you will do:
The Product Manager - Industrial will be responsible for managing the product portfolio for the Industrial and Gas team across Australian and New Zealand. This role will be both office and field based, and will combine portfolio management customers, and with internal and external stakeholders. The role is versatile and each day will be different opportunities and challenges, the need to bring a collaborative and entrepreneurial approach is important.  

Engagement with key customers across many industries, and suppliers, balancing the identification and understanding that meets the needs and best solutions for the customer, and supports growth for key suppliers. 

Collaborating with Commercial, Technical, and Service teams, to establish and continue Thermos Fisher Scientific as supplier of choice by delivering tailored solutions. Developing and executing industry and application strategies to support a cleaner, healthier and safer world.
 

Key Responsibilities

Product Management and Maintenance

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets (AOP) with alignment of organisation margin objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update strategic product focus plans.
  • Collaborate with support teams such as marketing for product information requirements
  • Create all new Product SKUs based on business opportunity.
  • Provide accurate supply, forecasting, demand tracking, and opportunity funnel management.

Product & Technical Expertise

  • Promote the Industrial and Gas Safety portfolio, including lone worker, portable and fixed gas safety detection devices, as well as testing and compliance devices for industry.
  • Develop a strong technical understanding of customer applications, regulatory environments, and workflow requirements.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, seminars, and customer training activities.
  • Collaborate with the Strategic Partnerships, Customer Care, Technical Support and Service teams to grow the business, resolve customer issues and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in internal product training and relevant industry scientific meetings and conferences.

Market Intelligence & Collaboration

  • Gather and report market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback (including win/loss insights) for the commercial and leadership team
  • Support Product Management with inventory planning, forecasting, and go-to-market initiatives.
  • Work cross-functionally to support a whole-of-business sales approach.

Pipeline, CRM & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of customer interactions, opportunities, and forecasts within the CRM system (updated weekly).
  • Ensure forecast accuracy within agreed tolerances.
  • Adhere to Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and contribute to a safe working environment.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Material Sciences, Occupational Hygiene, and/or equivalent welcome

Experience

  • Minimum 5-10 years of technical sales experience in relevant applications like Gas Detection/Workplace Safety, and/or Testing and Compliance
  • Demonstrated sales success with technical products and service.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong commercial acumen with proven sales process execution.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage time effectively, and prioritise results.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • High attention to detail, strong CRM and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • Customer-focused, solution-oriented, and driven by results.

Other Requirements

  • Valid Australian driver’s license.
  • Requirement to travel regularly within the assigned territory (typically 25%), including conferences, meetings and training events.
