A Snapshot 

As Project Director reporting to our Development Manager, you will work closely with our Development team, making an impact in several ways: 

  • Overall accountability for the delivery of large-scale projects and/or campus wide projects, ensuring the safe delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards 
  • Providing strong leadership, strategic planning, and coordination with cross-functional teams, both internal and external including local building authorities and utility companies.  
  • Liaise with and support the Development Manager, Pre-flight team, and senior management on preconstruction activities to ensure that there is seamless transition once projects are implemented. 
  • Note: This role requires relocation to Malaysia (subject to local Visa approval)

 Key Responsibilities  

  • Project Leadership: Take ownership, lead, and manage the construction phases of data center facilities, ensuring alignment with AirTrunk values and objectives. Build and develop supporting members as project team grows.  
  • Safety: Lead the project team in establishing and maintaining a culture that promotes safety to the highest standards with the aim of constant improvement and safe delivery.  
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all installations are of the utmost quality and defect free at handover stage.  
  • Programme & Milestone Tracking: Management and monitoring of overall project programme to ensure adherence to key contract milestones and deadlines including early identification of possible programme risks and establishing mitigations as required. 
  • Budget and Cost Management: In conjunction with the Cost Management team, monitor and control project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and financial accountability throughout the project. Review vendor claims, including payment claims, invoices, variations, and time related claims 
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for and management of all project level stakeholders, including clients, contractors, consultants, vendors, & internal team members to ensure the successful delivery of all project phases. Coordination with local authorities and utilities.   
  • Risk Management: Identify & report potential risks and issues including partnering with external parties to develop mitigation strategies to prevent delays or cost overruns.
  • Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior management, stakeholders, and clients on project progress including key risks and issues. 
  • Commissioning & Handover: Provide support to the Services and Commissioning teams to ensure successful testing and commissioning, as well as coordination with Operations on final stages of construction and handing over of the facility.  

Requirements 

  • 10+ years' construction experience within projects over 30,000 m2. 
  • Fluent in English 
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical/electrical/civil engineering or project/construction management. 
  • Experience working for a data centre operator/previous hyperscale or cloud provider in the APAC market 
  • Exceptionally flexible and forward-thinking   
  • Results focussed and a “get things done” approach 
  • Prepared to travel across APAC as required
