Downer is currently seeking a Project Engineer to join our team based in Townsville, QLD. Ideally, this role would be suited to candidates with exposure across spray seal, asphalt or civil road construction environments. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated Engineer to learn all aspects of our operations and work within a driven and enthusiastic team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the delivery of allocated projects to agreed time, cost, quality and safety objectives.
  • Monitor project cost, program, safety and commercial performance.
  • Assist with risk identification, issue resolution and opportunity realisation.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Project Engineers and Commercial teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare reports and presentations as required.
  • Contribute to tendering, estimating and business development activities when required.
  • Build, maintain and grow strong client and stakeholder relationships.
  • Actively lead and promote a Zero Harm safety culture across all activities.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Civil Engineering or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 2 years exposure in the bituminous or asphalt surfacing, civil road construction or road maintenance ideal.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear direction to crew members and effectively liaise with customers.
  • Successful track record with planning, organising and time management.
  • Commercial skills and understanding of financial administration and project costing advantageous.
  • Proven experience in identifying opportunities; improvements and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability with building relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to be flexible with travel when required.
  • Enthusiasm with an aptitude for seeking further opportunities to make a significant contribution.
  • Strong safety focus with demonstrated evidence of actively promoting and sustaining a Zero Harm environment.
