We are now seeking an experienced and visionary Project Manager to join our Sydney team and lead the next generation of rail transport solutions across New South Wales.

As a Project Manager within the Rail + Transit team you will play a pivotal leadership role across high-profile transport infrastructure projects. You’ll be a project manager with the aim of delivering early-stage projects such as feasibility and business case studies, help support our business development activities, drive work winning, nurture key client relationships, and champion our project delivery. 

AECOM has played a pivotal role in shaping Sydney’s transport network, delivering planning, design, engineering, and project management services across some of the city’s most significant rail and transit projects including Sydney Metro City & Southwest, Parramatta Light Rail, Sydney Metro West and Canberra Light Rail. From business case studies and concept designs, through to delivery, AECOM continues to help drive these transformative projects, shaping the future of Sydney’s transport infrastructure.

What will a day in this role look like: 

  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams to deliver rail and transit infrastructure projects to the highest standards.
  • Maintain and develop trusted client relationships with public and private sector partners.
  • Oversee project planning, design development, and systems integration phases.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability in project delivery.
  • Support strategic business development and contribute to market growth initiatives.
  • Manage early phase work winning and strategic pursuits across the transport portfolio. 

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.  

What are we looking for from you?  

  • Extensive experience in early phase (business case, feasibility studies, concept design) infrastructure projects, with a proven track record in project leadership roles.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Chartered Engineer and/or Project Manager (or working towards accreditation).
  • 10 plus years relevant project management experience, preferably in the rail and transit sector.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex client and team relationships.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality, sustainable design solutions.
  • A strong commercial acumen and commitment to excellence in project delivery.
