About the opportunity

As the Project Manager, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of the Sydney Biomedical Accelerator (SBA), a strategic partnership between the University of Sydney and Sydney Local Health District to establish a world-class biomedical research and innovation facility in Camperdown.

You will lead and coordinate complex project activities that underpin the successful establishment of the SBA, working across multiple interconnected work-streams including research strategy and development, biomedical workforce planning, research infrastructure, and clinical and industry engagement. You will collaborate closely with academic, clinical, and industry stakeholders to co-design initiatives, shape operating models, and deliver high-impact outcomes that advance translational research and health innovation.

Operating with a high level of autonomy, you will provide expert project management and strategic guidance to ensure delivery of key milestones ahead of the facility’s opening in 2028.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead project organisation, including defining roles, responsibilities, and workforce planning across SBA workstreams

  • develop and deliver project charters, plans, and schedules aligned to SBA program milestones

  • manage multiple concurrent project streams, ensuring delivery within budget and agreed timeframes

  • coordinate research strategy and development initiatives, including co-design activities with academic and clinical stakeholders

  • contribute to the development of operating models for research infrastructure, commercialisation, and industry engagement

  • support biomedical workforce planning and contribute to building the SBA organisational culture

  • establish and embed governance, reporting frameworks, and risk management processes

  • manage stakeholder engagement across University, health, and external partner organisations

  • design and deliver communication and engagement strategies to support clinical and consumer involvement

  • provide strategic advice and resolve complex issues to enable successful program outcomes

About you

  • postgraduate qualifications in STEM, health, or related discipline

  • demonstrated experience delivering complex projects within biomedical, health, or research environments

  • experience working within academic, clinical, or translational research settings

  • strong understanding of research infrastructure, commercialisation, or industry engagement in a biomedical context

  • proven experience managing diverse stakeholder groups, including senior academic and clinical leaders

  • experience applying co-design approaches to develop programs, frameworks, or initiatives

  • knowledge of the NSW health system or similar complex healthcare environments

  • strong capability in project governance, risk management, and reporting frameworks

  • excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills

  • ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a complex environment
