Job Description:

The opportunity

The Project Execution team is at the heart of our organization, turning customer commitments into safe, successful and sustainable outcomes. As Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end execution of medium to large, medium to high-complexity projects and orders, balancing technical delivery with strong commercial and contractual performance.

You will bring together customers, engineering, supply chain, overseas factories, suppliers, subcontractors and site teams to deliver against scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety and profitability targets. This is a visible, customer-facing role for a confident project professional who enjoys solving complex problems, protecting project value and building trusted stakeholder relationships.

How you'll make an impact
  • Own the full project lifecycle, including sales-to-execution handover, contract review, project kick-off, execution planning, monitoring and control, customer acceptance and formal contract close-out.
  • Lead and control project scope, schedule, cost, resources and deliverables, taking timely action to address issues, dependencies and emerging constraints.
  • Monitor project financial performance, including revenue, invoicing, cost, expenses, cash flow, profitability and resource utilisation, and maintain accurate forecasts and progress reporting.
  • Identify, qualify and manage risks and opportunities. Establish effective mitigation and contingency actions and actively pursue opportunities that improve project outcomes.
  • Apply disciplined contract, variation and claims management. Document customer change requests and secure appropriate approvals for scope, time and cost impacts.
  • Act as the primary customer contact and escalation point for project matters, building strong relationships and communicating clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Along with Project Engineer, coordinate engineering, supply chain, overseas factories, suppliers, subcontractors, logistics, site activities, testing and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) requirements.
  • Review and coordinate project documentation, including drawings, schedules, reports, transmittals and technical deliverables, while managing key technical and commercial interfaces.
  • Ensure compliance with Hitachi Energy policies, contractual requirements, quality standards, applicable IEC and Australian Standards, and health, safety and environmental expectations.
  • Capture and share lessons learned, contribute to project reviews and help improve project execution tools, processes and best practices.
  • Work independently with limited supervision and, where required, coach, guide or review the work of developing project professionals.
Your background
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Extensive project management experience in the high-voltage electrical industry or a comparable energy, infrastructure or heavy-industry environment, with demonstrated delivery of complex projects or orders.
  • Proven capability managing scope, schedule, cost, resources, suppliers and subcontractors from handover through completion.
  • Sound knowledge of high-voltage equipment and substations. Experience with Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS), transmission and distribution products is highly regarded.
  • Working knowledge of primary and schematic drawings for high-voltage products, together with applicable IEC and Australian Standards.
  • Strong commercial and contractual capability, including contract review, risk and opportunity management, variations, claims and different contractual models.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams across local and international locations.
