About the team and the role
The Planning & Delivery team delivers critical planning, design and the capital building and infrastructure program that enable Sydney Airport to achieve its strategic objectives. Planning & Delivery adopts a customer centric approach to our engagement with all internal stakeholders, providing transparency and demonstrable value for money in our dealings with external stakeholders and delivering its results in a way that mitigates unplanned disruptions to ongoing airport operations for all our stakeholders, travelers and the public.
The Project Manager develops, leads, and oversees various project disciplines, managing the entire lifecycle from initiation to handover. This includes stakeholder engagement, design, procurement, delivery, commissioning, and First Line Assurance. You will collaborate with internal client groups across all airport operational and functional areas to deliver key construction projects, while also building relationships and communicating project status and feasibility with key stakeholders. Additionally, they interact with government regulatory agencies and contracted support, contributing to continuous improvement with a growth mindset.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to
- Ensure on-time, end-to-end project delivery, manage contract administration, and implement works considering stakeholder requirements and best practices.
- Review and prepare consultant briefs and business cases, lead liaison, design, and approval processes, and participate in meetings with sponsors, tenants, asset owners, development managers, and stakeholders to achieve final working drawings.
- Lead tendering processes, monitor compliance with regulatory, WH&S, security, and environmental standards, provide safety leadership, and report monthly on work progress, budget, risk, program, and project close-out procedures.
- Lead and influence a positive team culture and working environment, oversee Project Managers and Coordinators to ensure effective communication and reporting with stakeholders, provide coaching and feedback to develop team capability, and motivate employees to drive high engagement across the Airport.
- Manage stakeholder communications, establish project briefs, and identify and mitigate conflicts between project activities and operational requirements.
About you
- Relevant tertiary degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of industry experience in delivering complex civil, construction, and infrastructure projects in a project management role.
- Proven ability to lead teams and multi-functional projects in dynamic, customer-centric environments.
- Extensive knowledge of project management, procurement, contract management, WHS, Environmental, and Sustainability practices.
- Strong skills in stakeholder engagement, problem-solving, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal interactions.
- Customer-focused with an appreciation for service delivery standards.
- White card and Australian Driver’s license (Required)
- Knowledge of Sydney Airport approval processes and MOS 139 requirements related to the aviation industry (Desirable)
- Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification (Desirable)
