We’re looking for a Public Relations Advisor to join our Communications team and help bring those stories to life.


From advances in cancer treatment and clinical research to innovative technology, new services and the people behind the care, you’ll uncover and share stories that build awareness of GenesisCare and the difference our teams make for patients and their families.


Reporting to our Communications Director, this is a great opportunity for a PR or media professional looking to take the next step in their career. You’ll work closely with our clinical and business leaders to identify stories, develop media opportunities and build relationships with journalists across Australia.


Based in Alexandria, NSW, this permanent full-time position offers hybrid working arrangements.

 

More specifically, you will:

  • Identify and develop compelling stories and proactive media opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with healthcare, mainstream and regional journalists.
  • Create media releases, pitches, statements, key messages and briefing materials.
  • Translate complex clinical and business information into clear, engaging stories.
  • Support communications across cancer care, research, innovation, technology and key milestones.
  • Develop thought leadership and media opportunities for our clinical and business leaders.
  • Manage media enquiries and support communications during emerging issues.

 

What you’ll bring:

You’ll have experience in PR or media relations, strong writing and communication skills and an ability to recognise a good story and develop it into a media opportunity.


You’ll be confident building relationships with a range of stakeholders, comfortable managing multiple priorities and able to turn complex information into clear and engaging content.

 

You’ll also bring:

  • Around 3–5 years’ experience in PR, media relations or communications.
  • A qualification in communications, PR, journalism or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills.
  • Experience developing proactive media stories and campaigns.
  • A good understanding of the Australian media landscape and confidence engaging with journalists.
  • Strong relationship-building, organisation and project management skills.

Experience in healthcare, science or another complex industry would be highly regarded but isn’t essential.
