At Athena, we’re on a mission to help Aussies pay off their home loans faster. The Quality Assurance Specialist sits within our Credit and Risk team and plays a key role in ensuring our credit lending decisions are accurate, compliant and aligned with Athena’s lending standards and risk appetite.

The Role

  • Review and assess home loan credit applications (pre- and post-funding) to ensure they meet Athena’s lending guidelines and compliance requirements.
  • Identify policy breaches, process gaps, or potential risks through structured quality reviews.
  • Facilitate coaching with credit assessors for process or compliance improvements and work with the operational teams to identify upskilling opportunities
  • Work with the Operational and Compliance teams to monitor and report suspicious transactions to AUSTRAC.
  • Maintain QA records, monitor trends, and contribute to regular reporting for senior management.
  • Collaborate closely with the Credit, Operational Risk and our Compliance teams to support risk mitigation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Athena’s credit policies, procedures, and training frameworks.
  • Foster a culture of open risk discussion, continuous learning, and accountability.

Who we're looking for?

  • You have 2+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance or Credit Operations. 
  • You bring strong knowledge of residential mortgage lending and credit assessment principles.
  • You’re skilled at identifying issues and providing constructive feedback to help others grow.
  • You thrive in a dynamic, fun, and purpose-driven environment.
  • You demonstrate a high-level attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • You get energy from helping Customers and saving them a bucketload.
  • You have excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
