Job Description

As the Team Leader of Quoting and Underwriting Alterations Team, you will lead a dedicated team of Consultants and Technical Specialist, ensuring the delivery of services in accordance with key performance metrics, service levels and quality standards. Your primary focus will be to foster an engaged and high-performing culture within the team. 

This role involves collaboration with underwriting, offshore teams, as well as customer service and retention teams to consistently deliver best-in-class customer service experiences.

  • Managing day to day workflow to ensure the delivery of services in accordance with key performance metrics, service levels and quality standards.
  • Working with Technical Teams to identify knowledge gaps and create plans to address any issues.
  • Ensure day to day compliance requirements are met, as per TAL guidelines with particular emphasis on the protection of sensitive customer information and develop frameworks to monitor this when quality checking.
  • Manage stakeholder (internal and external) relationships. Relationships with stakeholders include business partners, users, vendors, customers, project team members and management leaders.
  • Using and adopting AOM methodology and tools to plan and deliver against targets.
  • Communicates with positive impact across wider business areas. Informs with timeliness and setting context.
  • Gives frequent, positive, and constructive feedback to team members. If a People Leader works with direct reports to ensure development plans are appropriate for individual and business needs.
  • Sets goals, timeframes and priorities based on strategy.
  • Encourages others to use systems and processes properly.
  • Implements changes that create value for customers and partners.
  • Communicates openly to engage customers, peers & partners using a variety of communication strategies (face-to-face, written, telephone, group presentation).
  • Shows strong ownership of strategy and business deliverables, ensuring agile delivery of agreed actions by self and others.
  • Explore solutions to improve effectiveness and productivity across the team.
  • Ensures team members are clear on own and others accountabilities.

Qualifications

Qualification & Experience

  • Strong understanding and the ability to effectively develop and coach staff
  • Sound business acumen and a Business qualification or similar preferred
  • Confident, engaging and a natural ability to communicate, motivate and lead staff

Key Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong technical knowledge of Life Insurance industry
  • Willingness and ability to implement and embed the TAL coaching framework within their team
  • Demonstrated ability to coach staff from underperforming to high performing within the context of team & individual performance
  • Strong people leadership and experience with people policy issues
  • Ability to lead people through change and transformation
  • Drives a positive culture and demonstrates TAL values and appropriate behaviours
