About this opportunity
Ericsson is establishing a new state-of-the-art R&D center in Yokohama focused on Radio and Software development for next-generation mobile networks. The role is for an Intermediate to Senior Power Amplifier (PA) Designer / Radio Hardware Integration Engineer working on future radio systems across the full product lifecycle, from early development and research to product deployment and field support.
What you will do
- Contribute to the design and development of Ericsson's future radio systems, including Power Amplifier (PA) design and RF performance optimization
- Perform RF simulations, schematic-level design, testing, and performance analysis
- Work hands-on in the laboratory using advanced RF measurement equipment
- Integrate radio hardware boards, modules, and systems into complete radio units
- Ensure proper interaction between RF chains, ASICs, FPGAs, software, and mechanical components
- Execute system-level verification, troubleshooting, and performance optimization
- Support lab setup, system integration, and test environment readiness
- Collaborate with system architects, software teams, vendors, and customers
- Participate in cross-functional Agile teams and contribute to continuous improvement
- Support knowledge sharing and mentor junior engineers when applicable
The skills you bring
- Strong background in RF engineering and wireless communication systems (LTE / NR / 3GPP)
- Solid experience in Power Amplifier (PA) design, including architectures, operating modes, and linearization techniques (e.g., DPD)
- Hands-on experience with RF measurements and laboratory equipment
- Understanding of radio hardware and software architecture and system-level interactions
- Knowledge of transistor technologies such as LDMOS and GaN
- Experience with system integration, validation, and troubleshooting of complex RF systems
- Programming or scripting skills (C#, MATLAB, VEE or similar) is an advantage
- Familiarity with telecom standards (3GPP, ETSI, FCC, CE, etc.)
- Understanding of radio product lifecycle from development to production support
- Strong problem-solving mindset with structured troubleshooting capability
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional and global teams
- Fluent in English; Japanese is a strong advantage
- Curiosity, self-drive, and motivation to continuously learn and improve
