What you’ll do

In your new role as a Ratings Analyst in the Equifax ANZ Operations team, your primary focus is to drive transparency in the construction and renewable energy industries using Equifax’s specialised rating tools, specifically the Renewable Energy Developer Rating Scheme (DRS) and the Independent Construction Industry Ratings Tool (iCIRT) to assess entities. Your ultimate output will be evidence-based assessment reports for our customers that look beyond financial ratios to measure the maturity of an entity’s conduct, capability, and commitment to maintaining a social license to operate.

You will utilise your financial literacy skills as well as your ability to analyse entities operating in the construction and renewable energy industries to identify high-risk or low-trust characteristics within our risk frameworks. For the renewable energy assessments, a critical component of your role will involve assessing engagement performance across five distinct stakeholder groups: First Nations, Landholders, Neighbours, Broader Community, and Local Government. Using your strong stakeholder management skills, you will build rapport with external senior stakeholders to obtain key information as per the report requirements and assessment scope. You will lead meetings to understand the business and evaluate governance structures and operating systems, later facilitating discussions with the entity’s stakeholders regarding their rating outcomes and the key drivers behind them. You can demonstrate your time management, multi-tasking and prioritisation skills, and the ability to meet deadlines and performance targets.

In addition, you will keep abreast of industry developments to ensure you are familiar with the business drivers, dynamics, macro-economic environment and challenges across a range of markets.

What experience you need

  • 3+ years experience in a similar analytical role (e.g., Credit Research, ESG Analyst, or Operational Auditor) with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or law.

  • Proven ability to analyse qualitative risk factors such as corporate governance and social impact alongside financial statements.

  • An ability to think beyond compliance checkboxes and apply knowledge in a holistic way to identify systemic organisational weaknesses.

  • Confidence in interviewing directors, senior managers, and project leads to extract operational truths and look behind the data.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to manage challenging conversations regarding rating outcomes with senior leadership.

  • Ability to apply advanced critical thinking to complex data while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and willingness to take ownership of deliverables and service level.

  • Seeks continuous improvement of self and business process.

What could set you apart?

  • Experience auditing or evaluating organisational management systems (e.g., Social Impact, Engagement, Quality, Environment, or Safety) beyond just financial compliance

  • Corporate experience or project-based roles within the renewable energy, transmission, or building and construction sectors
