You’ll sit at the centre of the release process, working closely with development, QA, operations, and client-facing teams to keep everyone aligned and moving forward. From managing complex deployment workflows to ensuring hardware and software releases run without a hitch, you’ll bring structure, clarity, and momentum to every launch, making sure what we ship is high quality, reliable, and ready for the real world.

Key responsibilities for the role

  • Own the end to end coordination of software releases across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Plan and manage release schedules to ensure deployments are delivered on time and aligned with business priorities.
  • Establish and maintain release management processes and best practices across engineering teams.
  • Partner closely with development, QA, DevOps, operations, and project teams to ensure smooth and reliable deployments.
  • Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and issues within the release pipeline, proactively resolving blockers.
  • Lead release planning sessions, deployment readiness reviews, and post-release retrospectives to continuously improve processes.
  • Oversee the stability, configuration, and performance of environments supporting the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with DevOps teams to enhance CI/CD pipelines and increase deployment automation.
  • Provide clear updates to stakeholders on release status, milestones, and potential risks.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure all releases meet security, compliance, and internal governance standards.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (relevant certifications such as ITIL, PMP, or DevOps are a plus).
  • 5+ years’ experience in release management, environment management, or a similar role in a technology-driven organisation.
  • Proven experience managing software releases across complex, multi-environment systems.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps, and version control systems like Git.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g. PowerShell, Python).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and container technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern delivery practices including Agile, Scrum, and DevOps.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, QA, operations, and business teams.
  • Highly organised with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
