Position Description

We are looking for an analyst to provide stock coverage in the small cap space within the Australian listed market. The analyst will provide stock recommendations based on thorough analysis, financial models and company/industry insights. The analyst must be able to present & market effectively, externally to fund managers and clients and, internally to institutional sales and sales traders. Analysts should view their role as an integral part of the team’s success. Effective teamwork contribution; actively generate ideas for the teams development; communicate issues that require action; support each other and ask for help when needed.

Key Areas of Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive and differentiated research on the small cap sector.

  • Develop financial models & valuation databases for all stocks under primary coverage.

  • Respond to market news, earnings releases, corporate developments and other market-moving information when necessary and in a proactive manner.

  • Develop and maintain key client relationships.

  • Actively engage with clients and the relevant sales team members to communicate ideas to ensure maximum exposure/return from the time invested in producing research reports.

  • Maintain sound working relationships with corporates, clients and government/industry organisations.

  • Collect data and compile answers for clients requests in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Actively generate ideas for the teams development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or above in business related discipline, preferably with finance and/or accounting major

  • 3-10 years’ experience as a research associate/analyst. Alternatively, funds management, investment banking, or finance/accounting background would be considered with requisite demonstration of key modelling skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong understanding of financial modelling

  • Strong excel/ spreadsheet skills

  • Excellent interpersonal sensitivity

  • High sense of commercial awareness

  • Excellent communication, relationship and management skills to both internal and external clients

  • Excellent command in both spoken and written English
