About the Opportunity 

As a Research Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery and evaluation of an innovative research project focused on AI literacy and responsible AI The role will also contribute to research examining how innovation and entrepreneurship programs influence young people's awareness, aspirations, participation, and pathways into entrepreneurship and STEM. Working as part of a collaborative research team, you will contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of AI-enabled learning initiatives across educational and community settings.

You will support research activities including stakeholder engagement, co-design workshops, data collection and analysis, project coordination, and the management of research platforms and resources. The role will also contribute to project reporting, research dissemination, community outreach and the translation of research outcomes into practice.

This position is ideal for a motivated and organised researcher who is passionate about emerging technologies, education, and creating positive outcomes for young people through impactful research and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Support research and development activities in Responsible AI, including the creation of AI literacy resources, evaluation of AI technologies, and exploration of approaches that promote fairness, safety and ethical AI use.
  • Support research and development activities focused on innovation and entrepreneurship education, including investigating factors that influence awareness, participation, entrepreneurial intent, and innovation capability development among young people.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of research methodologies, data collection activities and evaluation frameworks, including surveys, focus groups and participant engagement measures.
  • Contribute to the operation and ongoing enhancement of AI-enabled learning platforms, ensuring high-quality content, user support and effective platform performance.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and co-design activities with schools, industry partners, mentors and community organisations, fostering strong collaborative relationships and supporting continuous program improvement.
  • Support the delivery of research programs and projects through participant communications, event coordination, scheduling, resource development and general project administration.
  • Assist with research data management, analytics and reporting, contributing insights that inform project outcomes, participation trends and impact evaluation.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, publications, funding applications and other research dissemination activities.
  • Support outreach and communication initiatives, including website content, digital communications, social media activities and engagement with internal and external stakeholders.

About you 

  • You will hold a Bachelor Degree with Honours, Master Degree, PhD Degree, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and/or experience.
  • A valid Blue Card (Queensland Government Working with Children check) will be required as part of employment on this project
  • A Police Check may be required as part of employment on this project.

Desirable:

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in Responsible AI, AI literacy,   STEM participation research, entrepreneurial awareness and participation, women in STEM and/or entrepreneurship, youth innovation programs, educational technologies, entrepreneurship education, innovation and entrepreneurship, or innovation management.
  • Experience with survey design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and data visualisation.
  • Experience supporting online communities, digital platforms, or content moderation activities.
  • Knowledge of research ethics, privacy, and data governance practices.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, community-based research, or co-design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of cyber security principles and secure data management practices.

Candidates must have full unrestricted work rights, sponsorship is not available for this position. 

What we can offer

This is a full time, fixed term opportunity till 31st March 2031 at can be based at either the Gold Coast or Brisbane (South) campus. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s campuses are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary

Research Assistant Grade 2 – Base range - $82,704.41 - $91,705.30 + 17% superannuation. Full package range - $96,764.15 - $107,295.20.
