A Snapshot
As the Safety Training & Communications Lead based in our North Sydney HQ, you will report to the Director, Business Operations Safety and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in a number of ways.
The Safety Training & Communications Lead is responsible for developing, governing, and continuously improving AirTrunk’s Safety Training Framework (Safety Academy), ensuring all AirTrunkers across are trained, competent, and aligned to ISO, legal, and customer requirements.
The role will own the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) matrix, govern the AirTrunk Safety LMS (Seed) across regions, uplift high risk competency programs, and drive targeted, outcome focused safety communications that strengthen compliance, awareness, and risk-based decision making. The role plays a critical part in supporting AirTrunk Safety Management systems uplift, audit readiness, customer assurance, and AirTrunk’s ambition to be a Global Leader in Safety.
Your Day to Day
Safety Training Framework (Safety Academy)
- Build, implement and maintain AirTrunk’s Safety Training Framework, ensuring all training aligns to ISO45001, WHS legislation, customer SLAs, and industry standards.
- Own and continuously update the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) matrix across all regions and job families, ensuring accuracy and alignment to regulatory and customer expectations.
- Develop and maintain highrisk competency pathways (e.g., isolations, electrical safety, confined space, incident response, switching).
- Develop multilingual and countryspecific training materials to support international operations.
Seed LMS Governance
- Govern all safety courses in LMS, including creation, curation, publishing, assignment, version control, and lifecycle management.
- Lead integration of training data from regional systems into Seed to eliminate backlogs and improve compliance visibility.
- Build dashboards and reporting on training compliance to support ISO audit readiness, customer audit requirements, and internal assurance expectations.
Capability Building & Training Delivery
- Deliver targeted safety training programs for offices, data centres, and new starters (e.g., ergonomics, manual handling, induction).
- Design and run TraintheTrainer programs to empower sites to selfdeliver training and reduce central team dependency.
- Provide subjectmatter guidance to leaders and teams on safety competency expectations and pathways.
Safety Systems & Strategic Program Support
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of AirTrunk Safety Management systems, including system training, change communications, and documentation uplift.
- Contribute to improving consistency and quality of procedures, competency documentation, and safety management system content.
- Support broader safety strategic deliverables across AirTrunk.
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Provide training evidence and competency records to support internal and external ISO45001 audits.
- Support customer assurance and SLAdriven training requirements, ensuring workers meet contractual competency expectations.
- Maintain accurate, auditable records of training completion and compliance across all regions.
Safety Communications
- Develop and deliver communications that support risk reduction, compliance outcomes, and audit readiness, including safety alerts, highrisk competency reminders, audit insights, and critical system changes.
- Translate technical safety, legislative, or ISO requirements into clear, actionable guidance for nontechnical audiences.
- Maintain and modernise Safety @ AirTrunk communications channels (intranet, updates, microlearning content).
- Support targeted messaging for system uplift (AirTrunk Safety Management systems), highrisk training programs, customer expectations, and organisational change.
- Partner with leaders to embed safety culture and reinforce consistent safety behaviours across regions.
- Work closely with the AirTrunk Marketing team and other business units to ensure the safety communications permeate the organisation (and partners) broadly and deeply.
Requirements
Essential
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation, ISO45001 requirements, and safety governance frameworks.
- Experience designing and delivering safety training programs and competency pathways.
- Experience managing LMS platforms.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical capability to interpret training data, compliance trends, and audit outcomes.
- Experience developing technical or highrisk training materials.
Desirable
- Experience with multi-jurisdictional safety management systems.
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or APJ markets.
- Experience developing multilingual training content.
- Data centre, engineering, construction, critical infrastructure or highrisk industry background.
