In Australia, our Energy Minerals business is a leading provider of coal testing, analysis and expert advice and we are currently looking for Coal Technicians to join our operations. We are seeking candidates who are looking for an exciting career change to work with a Global leader for quality and integrity role.

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Casual Coal Sampler, based in Mayfield, NSW, where you'll be part of a fast-paced and supportive work environment.

In this role, your responsibilities will include the timely and quality sampling, preparation, and basic analysis of samples for both internal and external customers. You'll also contribute to achieving our mission and objectives in the areas of sample preparation, analysis, and storage.

You will be responsible but not limited to:

  • Follow correct procedures for sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage, and reporting.
  • Ensure accuracy, precision, and traceability of samples with timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance of preparation equipment and maintain a safety-aware environment.
  • Use basic CCLAS for sample booking and analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with previous and following shifts.
  • Stop using any equipment that poses a safety risk or could affect results, and report to the Supervisor.
  • Perform routine and project sampling, preparation, and analysis.
  • Plan shift workflow and coordinate sample pick-ups and analysis.
  • Be available for shift work with reasonable notice.
  • Work across testing, sampling, and analytical areas as required.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred, but not essential
  • Good computer skills, Excel proficiency beneficial and previous experience with data management programs (highly regarded)
  • Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred, but not essential
  • Ability to work on rotating shifts
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet tight deadlines
