Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Casual Coal Sampler, based in Mayfield, NSW, where you'll be part of a fast-paced and supportive work environment.

In this role, your responsibilities will include the timely and quality sampling, preparation, and basic analysis of samples for both internal and external customers. You'll also contribute to achieving our mission and objectives in the areas of sample preparation, analysis, and storage.

Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to complete day, afternoon and/or night shifts on weekdays or weekends. Please note that the role involves regular manual handling of samples weighing 15 kg or more throughout the shift.

Working as part of a fast-paced, team, you will be responsible for:

  • Accurately conducting physical coal testing and analysis of routine samples, including crushing, weighing, drying, milling and sieving. 
  • Collection of samples from client site.  
  • Recording, sorting and storing coal samples as required. 
  • On-the-job training to meet compliance with analytical methods, procedures and SGS Quality Systems & onsite HSE Standards. 
  • Day to day upkeep of equipment. 
  • Delivery of samples to both internal and external customers

Qualifications

Previous coal sampling and testing experience would be an advantage. 

The successful candidate will also have: 

  • Strong communication skills. 
  • The ability to work in a team environment and the ability to meet tight deadlines. 
  • A flexible schedule to cover various shifts and rosters. 
  • The ability to keep pace with significant manual handling and labor throughout the shift. 
  • A can do attitude to strive for better and be part of a dynamic team. 
  • Forklift license and high-risk work ticket are desirable.
