Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the Role (your why)

As a Scrum Master within our Agile Delivery team, you will play a key role in facilitating and ensuring the Scrum process is followed to deliver high-quality outcomes for our customers. You’ll work closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to champion transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement across multiple teams and projects. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about agile culture, innovation, and empowering teams to perform their best.

Our offices are based across Australia and New Zealand. The team works in a hybrid model; two days in the office and work from home. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we also value flexibility and work/life balance. You and the team you join will have the freedom to find what works best!

What you’ll do

At the moment, as Scrum Master you will be focused on:

  • Coordinating and facilitating daily Scrum meetings, Sprint Planning, Release Planning, and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • Promoting collaboration and creativity within Scrum teams.
  • Working closely with Product Owners and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and transparency.
  • Providing visibility of team status and issues to senior management.
  • Coaching teams and Product Owners in Agile principles and effective backlog management.
  • Coordinating deliverables across multiple teams.
  • Mentoring team members on agile practices and encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring health and safety practices are followed as per Datacom policy.

We are a pretty agile company and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements - which means we often evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:
• 3+ years as a Scrum Master (or equivalent experience with other agile methodologies).
• Strong knowledge of agile principles and experience implementing them in technical environments.
• Excellent facilitation and communication skills with all levels of stakeholders.
• Strong people skills and the ability to foster team collaboration.

Nice to have:
• 5+ years in IT with experience across multi-team or multi-project agile environments.
• Experience in organisational change management.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, IT, Science, Engineering, Economics or a related discipline.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM1).
• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Lean, or Facilitation-related certifications.

Why join us here at Datacom?

Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest suppliers of Information Technology professional services. We have managed to maintain a dynamic, agile, small business feel that is often diluted in larger organisations of our size. It's our people that give Datacom its unique culture and energy that you can feel from the moment you meet with us.

We care about our people and provide a range of perks such as social events, chill-out spaces, remote working, flexi-hours and professional development courses to name a few. You’ll have the opportunity to learn, develop your career, connect and bring your true self to work.

You will be recognised and valued for your contributions and be able to do your work in a collegial, flat-structured environment. We operate at the forefront of technology to help Australia and New Zealand’s largest enterprise organisations explore possibilities and solve their greatest challenges — so you will never run out of interesting new challenges and opportunities.

We want Datacom to be an inclusive and welcoming workplace for everyone and take pride in the steps we have taken and continue to take to make our environment fun and friendly, and our people feel supported.

What you need to know about the Sydney Tech Scene

From opera to comedy shows, the Sydney Opera House hosts more than 1,600 performances a year, yet its entertainment sector isn't the only one taking center stage. The city's tech sector has earned a reputation as one of the fastest-growing in the region. More specifically, its IT sector stands out as the country's third-largest, growing at twice the rate of overall employment in the past decade as businesses continue to digitize their operations to stay competitive.
