The Senior Accountant is responsible for leading core financial accounting and reporting activities, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial information to support business performance and decision‑making. This role drives significant organizational impact by strengthening financial controls, improving finance processes, and partnering with key stakeholders to deliver insights, support audits, and ensure regulatory and statutory compliance. This position reports to the Financial Controller and is part of the Finance team located in Sydney and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Led the month-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting, including in-depth analysis of financial performance and key variances, while overseeing balance sheet reconciliations to maintain data integrity and promptly resolve discrepancies.
  • Directed statutory and management reporting across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles, delivering insights to support business decision-making, and ensured full compliance with SOX requirements by proactively identifying and mitigating control risks.
  • Coordinated internal and external audits as the primary point of contact, ensuring adherence to regulatory and corporate requirements, while overseeing local tax compliance (BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and workers’ compensation) and collaborating with advisors on corporate income tax matters.
  • Managed payroll accounting, including review and approval of payroll journals and reconciliations, and partnered with cross-functional stakeholders and offshore outsourcing teams to support financial planning, reporting, and operational initiatives.
  • Championed continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes, including supporting the SAP HANA transition, strengthening SOPs, enhancing internal control frameworks, and delivering other ad hoc finance projects as required.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Tertiary qualified in Accounting, CPA/CA qualified or partially qualified, with 8+ years’ proven experience in a finance function and strong exposure to General Ledger operations, including hands-on AP and AR experience.
  • Experienced in ERP and financial systems, with advanced computer literacy, particularly strong Excel skills, supporting accurate reporting, analysis, and efficient financial processes.
  • Highly detail-oriented and well-organised, demonstrating excellent time management skills, a proactive approach to identifying non-compliance issues, and a consistently high standard of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Strong communicator and collaborative team player, with excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively across functions while maintaining a customer-focused mindset.
  • Self-motivated and improvement-driven professional, combining technical accounting expertise with accountability, reliability, and a commitment to supporting business outcomes.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Understanding of the medical device industry, including its regulatory, commercial, and operational environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) with hands-on SAP experience, supporting efficient financial processing and reporting.
