We’re looking for an experienced Senior BI Analyst who can bridge the gap between business needs and technical delivery, working closely with stakeholders across Compliance, Risk, Finance, Onboarding and Operations. You’ll be comfortable moving seamlessly between business and technical analysis, translating complex requirements into practical data and reporting solutions while never losing sight of the broader business problem we’re trying to solve.

This role would suit a senior BI professional who combines strong technical capability with commercial awareness, leadership and excellent stakeholder management skills. Someone who can understand the business, challenge and clarify requirements, and lead the team in delivering the right solutions.

A critical part of this role is stakeholder engagement and business understanding. You’ll need to be confident and comfortable communicating directly with business stakeholders, able to understand what the business is trying to achieve and the underlying business logic behind its requirements. You’ll also play a senior role within the BI team, leading the team in delivering tasks and solutions for the business and ensuring business requirements are translated into effective outcomes.

You’ll have the autonomy to build strong relationships across the organisation, influence how data is used, and play a leading role in delivering solutions that have a genuine impact on the business. You’ll join an experienced BI team with exposure to a broad range of business areas and opportunities to further develop both your technical and stakeholder leadership skills. What you’ll be working on

Engage with key business stakeholders, building relationships, and gaining subject matter expertise, with the goal of ensuring business change is handled throughout BI reporting solutions e.g. data warehouse, self-service reporting, and back office including client statements and regulatory reporting.

  • Leadership in building out the team’s business requirements framework and adherence of it throughout the team

  • Providing guidance and mentorship to other team members to ensure that they develop their skills and reach their full potential.

  • Work with technical and non-technical colleagues to analyse requirements and design solutions

  • Perform systems and data analysis to understand business processes to gain understanding of CMC’s business applications and trading platforms.

  • Planning of work and translation of business requirements to functional specifications for developers within the team though stories and tasks applying an agile methodology.

  • Contribution towards and maintenance of systems and business analysis documentation, running knowledge transfer sessions and sharing through sprint show cases.

  • Guide and advise the business towards BI self-service where appropriate to maximize efficiency while being mindful of associated risks and best practices.

  • Assisting with ad-hoc reports for complex requests where existing solutions cannot be used.

What will help you be successful?

Essential:

  • Strong SQL skills, experience with Power BI, Tableau, Qlik or similar BI tools

  • Highly proficient at data discovery and analytics activities using SQL (SQL Server / Snowflake)

  • Hands on knowledge of data modelling and DBT within a Snowflake environment

  • A strong understanding of data warehouse and ETL principles

  • Strong reporting experience using Power BI or similar BI tools, such as Qlik or Tableau, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to ThoughtSpot

  • Exposure cloud working environment AWS

  • Experience in BA work for large scale projects

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong & demonstrable verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with key business stakeholders across all levels

  • Strong understanding of business needs and the underlying business logic, with the ability to translate requirements into relevant tasks and deliver effective outcomes for the business

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to seamlessly translate complex technical requirements into clear, concise information for non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with working in finance industry (banking, fintech and trading)

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being at the centre of data, technology and business decision making. This is a hands on, business facing role within our Business Intelligence team, supporting the reporting and data needs of our equity and derivative trading platforms. The role will primarily focus on stakeholder driven initiatives, while also providing support to key strategic projects
