Host/Havas

Job Description :

Havas Host is on the hunt for an awesome Senior Planner to join our Sydney-based agency.

Firstly, a bit about us.

We’ve changed immigration for entire nations. We’ve uncovered new and shifting values for Australians. We’ve created #1 charting podcasts, #1 charting songs and #1 charting apps.

We work with global clients like Tourism Fiji, Fiji Airways, IKEA, Blackmores and Avis Budget Group, alongside brilliant local clients including Stockland and Tassal. We’re pretty proud of the work we’ve achieved with these clients, in fact we’ve redefined what advertising agencies are capable of. Oh, and we have some of the highest culture scores in the industry

We’re also part of the Havas Village, bringing together Creative, Media and PR. That creates a huge amount of opportunity to learn from different disciplines, collaborate with different kinds of thinkers and solve bigger problems for some amazing clients.

But for excellence to come out, excellence has to go in. And that’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a brilliant Senior Brand Planner to join our strategy team.

Our strategic philosophy is called Unusual Works.

We believe the best creative work starts by identifying the usual. The category conventions, assumptions, behaviours and accepted ways of doing things that everyone else has stopped questioning.

Then we look for the unusual. A different way into the problem that can unlock a disproportionate creative and commercial opportunity.

So we’re not looking for someone who simply takes a brief and turns it into a strategy deck. We want someone who loves getting underneath a problem. Someone who can interrogate the brief, understand what’s really holding a brand back and find the Unusual Starting Point that gives creative teams somewhere genuinely interesting to go.

That means being comfortable moving between culture, consumers, categories and commercial reality. Knowing when a brand needs an evolution of what it already does well and when the opportunity demands something closer to a revolution.

  • Clients feel comfortable that you will have a considered and articulate point of view on their brand and business, they would describe you as strategically indispensable. You are comfortable building relationships with them.

  • You are output neutral and creative teams see you as a source of good creative opportunities and trust that you will eke out the most interesting creative opportunity from any brief.

  • You are a strong partner to the account director on the business and are as capable as they are in building client trust and relationship.

  • You can write and deliver a presentation that makes the complex simple. It will be well structured, signposted and robustly supported. You’ll be able to deliver it confidently.

  • You are focused on effectiveness and competent in research, analytics and reporting.

  • You have a sense of curiosity and interest in understanding business problems and developing strategic/creative solutions to address them

  • You are a self-starter and look to lead strategy rather than wait to be asked.

  • You work well with people within your team. Within the agency and the broader Village.
