Join us as we embrace this journey of transformation, committed to delivering exceptional value and experiences that make a lasting impact on our business, customers and industry.

About the role:

At Ampol, we're undertaking significant transformation across our Technology, Digital & Data function, and we're looking for a Senior Business Analyst to play a key role in driving delivery outcomes across our Energy Solutions and B2B technology initiatives. As a trusted partner to both business and technology stakeholders, you'll help shape solutions that deliver measurable value, improve customer experiences, and support Ampol's broader transformation agenda.

As a Senior Business Analyst, you'll work across complex initiatives, bringing clarity to ambiguity, translating business needs into actionable requirements, and identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems, and ways of working. You'll navigate dependencies, facilitate informed decision-making, and manage competing priorities to ensure successful delivery outcomes. Acting as the critical link between business and technology teams, you'll help drive initiatives from discovery through to implementation, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned to strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure clear, aligned, and actionable requirements for complex technical solutions.
  • Leading the gathering, analysis, and documentation of business and user requirements, using appropriate models and techniques to tell the story of what’s needed — and why.
  • Conducting impact and gap analyses to define current and future state processes, identifying opportunities and dependencies across systems.
  • Translating requirements into testable outcomes, defining acceptance criteria, and supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Partner with stakeholders to develop business cases and evaluate solution options (build vs. buy, process changes, integrations).
  • Support end-to-end delivery - from requirements through design, testing, implementation, and transition to operations/BAU Support
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation, influencing decision-making, facilitating workshops, and pushing back constructively when needed to ensure clarity and quality.

What you’ll bring:

For this role, we're looking for someone who can bring clarity to complexity and confidently navigate the space between business and technology. You'll be naturally curious, commercially minded, and skilled at turning ambiguous challenges into well-defined solutions that deliver real value for customers and the business.

  • Proven experience in business analysis within large, complex environments.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities and maintaining momentum across teams.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills: You are able to engage at all levels and influence outcomes with confidence.
  • A pragmatic, adaptable mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and driving structure where it doesn’t yet exist.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to distil complex problems into clear, actionable insights.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience. Certifications such as BABOK, ITIL v3/v4 Foundation, or Agile highly regarded.

We’ll take you further by:

  • Our total remuneration is competitive. This is across base salary, a performance incentive, employee share offers and a 25% discount on Fuel for two privately used cars!
  • We are flexible.  Many of our teams have embraced hybrid work, balancing time spent remote working, with time spent at an office to connect and work together where it adds value.
  • We value recognition.  We have an internal recognition platform amplifying the achievements of those who do great work and demonstrate our capabilities and values.
  • Career development and learning opportunities including LinkedIn Learning and other tailored training solutions.
  • BabyCare Package - financial and flexible support for parents transitioning back to work.
  • Need some wheels? Novated Lease options are available.
  • Remote working opportunities
  • 3 days well-being leave – 4 weeks’ annual leave and the opportunity to purchase 2 further weeks of leave
  • Invest in your future with the Employee Share Scheme
  • Access to Ampol's Benefits & Recognition platform providing you access to retail discounts and cashbacks at over 500+ retailers in Australia that assist with everyday living expenses
  • Care for your Community. Spend one paid day a year volunteering with one of our Ampol Foundation partners.
