Focus of the Role

As a Senior Business Development Sales Specialist in our secure networks team, you'll work with some of our largest customers to identify, shape and close Data & Connectivity (DAC) and Managed Data Network (MDN) opportunities that help businesses transform, grow and stay competitive. As Telstra execute on our Connected Future 30 strategy, Secure Networks will be a key growth engine for Telstra Enterprise. This role will be at the forefront of delivering some of our most strategic and transformative customer engagements, helping shape the future of connectivity, security, and digital innovation across Australia.

We're looking for a relationship-focused sales professional to help grow our Data and Connectivity business across some of our largest AMLR (Agribusiness, Manufacturing, Logistics and Retail) customers as well as our exciting Media, Entertainment, Gaming and Sports (MEGS) portfolio.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building trusted customer relationships, identifying growth opportunities and leading strategic sales conversations. Your primary focus will be driving Data and Connectivity (DAC) and Managed Data Network (MDN) outcomes, helping customers modernise and transform their network environments.

While the role is centred on DAC and network sales, it also provides an excellent pathway into broader technology solution selling. You'll work alongside specialists across cloud, security, collaboration, professional services and managed services, giving you the opportunity to continually expand your knowledge and career.

Preference will be given to Melbourne-based candidates, as the role primarily works with Melbourne-based customers.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Growing Data and Connectivity sales across a portfolio of strategic AMLR and MEGS customers
  • Leading customer conversations around network transformation, managed networks and connectivity outcomes.
  • Building trusted relationships with customer stakeholders and becoming a valued advisor.
  • Identifying opportunities to retain, grow and expand existing customer engagements.
  • Working collaboratively with Client Partners, Specialists, Presales and Delivery teams.
  • Developing account and opportunity strategies that deliver long-term customer value.
  • Leading commercial negotiations and contributing to major bids, tenders and complex sales opportunities.
  • Maintaining a healthy pipeline and delivering accurate forecasting.

What We're Looking For

  • Enterprise sales, business development, or account management experience, preferably within telecommunications, networking, managed services, or technology solutions.
  • Proven ability to build strong customer relationships, identify growth opportunities, and drive commercial outcomes.
  • Strong customer engagement, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial acumen with experience navigating complex sales cycles and strategic customer engagements.
  • A proactive, results-driven, and growth-oriented mindset.
  • Experience with Data and Connectivity solutions, including enterprise networking and managed services.
  • Exposure to managed network, infrastructure, or technology sales.
  • Experience working with large enterprise customers across industries such as retail, logistics, manufacturing, or related sectors.
  • Experience participating in RFPs, tenders, and strategic pursuits.
  • Knowledge of broader technology domains, including cloud, cyber security, and professional services.
