  • An exciting opportunity to join our Qantas Loyalty Retail Tribe in this Senior Leadership position
  • 12M Fixed-Term role based at our Corporate Campus in Mascot

At Qantas Loyalty, our vision is simple: to be the most valued, trusted, and rewarding loyalty ecosystem in the world. As an integral part of the iconic Qantas brand, we foster lasting relationships by delivering unparalleled value to our members—whether they are earning points in the air, shopping online, or unlocking exclusive everyday perks.

We are a fast-paced, innovative business dedicated to growth. This is your chance to step into a high-impact role where your strategic vision will shape our digital retail landscape.

The Opportunity:

As the Senior Category Portfolio Manager, you will take ultimate ownership of a key strategic component within our eCommerce portfolio. You will lead the commercial strategy for a diverse portfolio of partners and suppliers, driving profitability, digital innovation, and long-term business transformation.

This role balances high-level strategic architecture with hands-on commercial execution, offering the opportunity to spearhead projects across merchandising, content optimization, and end-to-end business transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for a key component of the eCommerce portfolio to ensure sustainable, long-term growth.
  • Commercial Growth: Optimize portfolio profitability by identifying new partner opportunities and maximizing commercial outcomes with existing suppliers.
  • Complex Negotiations: Lead high-value supplier negotiations and act as the commercial subject matter expert to ensure legal and contractual arrangements benefit the Qantas Group.
  • Transformation & Innovation: Champion key projects across Commercial Strategy, Innovation, Merchandising, and Content Optimisation to drive process efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stakeholder & Financial Alignment: Partner closely with internal stakeholders to integrate business needs into robust financial planning.
  • People & Culture: Mentor, coach, and lead the category team, fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous development and exceptional results.

What You’ll Bring:

To be successful in this role, you will be a seasoned commercial leader and a proven "change agent" with the gravitas to influence at the highest levels.

  • Experience: 10+ years of significant, successful experience within a large, complex organization spanning eCommerce, category management, retail buying, or strategic sourcing.
  • Education: A Degree in a relevant discipline (eCommerce, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or Business Management).
  • Supply Chain Expertise: A deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain functions—including logistics, production planning, and procurement—specifically within a fast-paced online/eCommerce environment.
  • Financial Acumen: Proven track record of achieving aggressive financial objectives, including managing retail margins, sales targets, and Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets.
  • Leadership & Influence: Extensive experience leading, motivating, and developing large teams, alongside a demonstrated ability to present clearly to C-suite and senior management.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Strong analytical interpretation skills, commercial astuteness, and a passion for turning complex problems into structured, continuous improvement initiatives.
