As a Senior Commercial Engineer, you provide specialist support across the lifecycle of network initiatives by assessing requirements, evaluating solution options, developing business cases, supporting vendor engagement, and contributing to commercial and strategic decision-making.

What You’ll Do

Networks and Technology Commercial Development is part of Products and & Technology Operations,  delivering Telstra's network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they're reliable, scalable, and secure.

This is a unique opportunity to bring together your network knowledge, commercial thinking and relationship-building skills to influence decisions that have a real impact on millions of consumer and business customers.

You'll work alongside talented people from across engineering, finance, product and procurement, helping to deliver resilient, high-quality and cost-effective network solutions.

  • Engage with a broad range of stakeholders to understand customer, business and technical requirements, and translate these into commercially viable network solutions, products, services and infrastructure outcomes.

  • Partner with stakeholders across engineering, finance, product and procurement to drive the best outcomes for customers and the business.

  • Support vendor engagement and commercial evaluation activities.

  • Provide analysis and recommendations throughout the lifecycle of network initiatives, from concept through to delivery.   

  • Support technology investment planning and business asset decisions, analysing current performance, emerging technologies, future demand, and strategic roadmap considerations.

About you

You're someone who enjoys combining your network engineering technical knowledge with commercial and strategic thinking. You can see the bigger picture, build strong relationships, and translate complex information into clear, practical recommendations.

You’re comfortable working across complex stakeholder environments and can assess, influence and communicate options that support better business outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Degree-level qualifications or equivalent experience in Engineering, Information Technology, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Experience in telecommunications, networks, technology or infrastructure environments.

  • An understanding of commercial drivers, business cases, investment planning or financial analysis.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work through complex challenges.

  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to engage with a variety of stakeholders.
