About the Role

BDO's Risk Advisory Services team enhances shareholder value, secures business wealth, and allows for increased growth opportunities by assisting businesses manage risk to their business objectives. BDO achieve this by identifying, analysing, and assessing client risks in the following ways:

  • Providing internal audit

  • Assessing and developing governance

  • Facilitating workshops

About the Opportunity

RAS consults to publicly listed, private and government organisations across various industries to ensure that appropriate controls and processes are in place to secure client's strategic and operational objectives. 

As a Senior Consultant in our Risk Advisory Service line, you will work closely with Partners and Senior Management to deliver a range of internal audits, management reviews and provide advice to clients. This role offers a great variety of work, autonomy, client contact and direct Partner interaction and coaching.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Delivering a variety of internal audits, business risk assurance and business process improvement projects in accordance with BDO’s methodologies and procedures. This will include report writing and communicating with clients

  • Recommending policy, procedural, process, system and control improvements, where identified.

  • Assisting in preparing proposals / scoping documents in response to client requests, preparing reports for projects undertaken and assisting with the development of new methodologies and service offerings.

  • Collaborating with senior leadership to assist with scheduling of work across the practice and contributing to the development of junior staff in a mentoring capacity.

  • Maintaining relationships with clients and working with internal stakeholders in creating future business opportunities.

About You

Our ideal candidate will come from a risk consulting background ideally with experience in internal audit working in professional services.

Combined with:

  • 2-3 years experience working in internal audit, related risk management or in similar role.

  • An accounting or business-related degree.

  • A working knowledge and understanding of basic internal audit and risk management practices and standards (IIA and ISO31000).

  • Knowledge and experience in undertaking internal audits, risk assessments and undertaking risk management framework reviews etc.

  • Experience in conducting internal audits of basic financial processes and controls and internal audits of operational processes.

  • Exposure to Enterprise Resource Management systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, TechOne etc.).
