Job Description

Your Opportunity

KPMG is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Mid Market and Private Risk Consulting team, with a primary focus on Internal Audit.

This role provides the opportunity to work closely with a diverse range of clients from start‑ups to ASX‑listed organisations across sectors including Local Government, utilities, renewables, corporate, and aged care. You will support and lead internal audit engagements that help organisations understand and respond to risk, strengthen governance and internal control frameworks, and achieve their strategic and operational objectives. The role offers exposure to complex risk environments, senior stakeholders, and the use of innovative tools and methodologies to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

You will:

  • Support the scoping, execution and delivery of internal audit and risk advisory engagements, working closely with Managers and junior team members.
  • Manage a portfolio of internal audit clients, supporting day‑to‑day engagement delivery and ongoing client relationships.
  • Be part of a leading team that advises high profile clients with operational and strategic initiatives focusing on risk management, governance, process review and controls and technology risks.
  • Lead a variety of internal audit projects, ranging across a variety of disciplines including procurement, contract management, capital delivery, sustainability, safety, financial controls, governance and operations.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships during and after engagements, effectively managing stakeholder expectations.
  • Supervise and coach junior team members, providing technical direction, on‑the‑job training and quality review of work.
  • Be involved and lead go to market initiatives and business development, the ability to target clients and markets that interest you.

Your Experience

  • At least 1 years’ experience as a Senior Consultant or a similar role in Internal Audit, Audit, Project Assurance, Program/project controls, Risk Consulting or Advisory.
  • Experience in working across multiple clients with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Recent experience in an audit or risk associated role, with a deep understanding of governance, risk and controls and an ability to think strategically.
