Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Dams Engineer to join our nationally connected Dams and Tailings team for NSW/ACT, to be based in our Sydney (St Leonards), Canberra, Newcastle or Wollongong office.

This is an opportunity to contribute to some of Australia’s most significant dam design, upgrade and safety projects, applying your technical expertise to complex engineering challenges across major dams, spillways, embankments and associated water infrastructure.

Working alongside industry-leading specialists, you’ll play a key role in delivering practical and technically robust solutions, fostering client relationships and mentoring junior engineers, and this role offers the chance to further develop your technical and leadership capabilities in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • The design, assessment and safety evaluation of concrete and embankment dams, spillways, outlet works and associated water infrastructure.
  • Delivery of dam-related projects across the full lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through to detailed design and construction support.
  • Undertaking dam safety surveillance, risk assessments and mitigation planning for major dam owners.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with geotechnical, structural, hydraulic and environmental specialists to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Building strong client, regulator and stakeholder relationships while contributing to proposals and business development activities.
  • Managing project budgets, schedules and delivery outcomes while mentoring junior engineers and supporting capability growth across the dams team.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with 7+ years’ experience in dams and or tailings engineering, ideally within a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, assessment and delivery of dams, associated water infrastructure or tailings projects.
  • Experience delivering projects from concept through to detailed design, construction support and project close-out.
  • Strong understanding of ANCOLD guidelines, dam safety principles and relevant engineering standards.
  • Excellent project management, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, with Chartered status or progress towards Chartership highly regarded.
