Who is Quantium?

Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.

The Role

Customer iQ is part of our Quantium Telstra team and sits at the heart of Telstra's Connected Future 30 strategy, delivering daily predictions of customer sentiment across prepaid, postpaid mobile, and fixed NBN. It has significant reach across the business — informing annual network investment decisions across Australia's largest mobile network and powering next best action served to 280+ retail stores and Telstra's call centres.

This Senior Data Scientist role is focused on putting Customer iQ's outputs to work — taking model predictions and turning them into data products and use cases the business can act on. You'll provide direction to the contributors around you and act as a trusted data science point of contact for both technical and non-technical partners. You'll also work alongside the BAU model build team, supporting them where needed.

What You'll Do
  • Putting the models to work: Take Customer iQ's outputs and turn them into data products and use cases that drive real decisions, shaping raw predictions into something that fits how the business works
  • Solution design: Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to build solutions that make model insights easy to understand and use
  • Directing the work: Scope and shape work for the contributors on your team, set the pace, and keep things moving
  • Stakeholder relationships: Build genuine, trusted relationships with people across the business, both technical and non-technical
  • Data science SME: Act as the data science point of reference for the wider Customer iQ team, and support the model build team when needed
What You'll Bring
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • A solid grasp of predictive modelling (e.g. GBM) — enough to work confidently with model outputs and support others in doing the same
  • A track record of turning analytical outputs into data products or use cases that make a real difference
  • The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical people
  • Experience delivering data science work end-to-end
  • Experience shaping work for others and helping less experienced people grow
Our Values
  • Move fast with care — we hustle with humility and heart, even under pressure
  • Reach for remarkable — we respectfully challenge the status quo, with courage, passion, and discipline
  • Share our superpowers — we recognise, value, and celebrate what makes each of us unique
  • Balance tomorrow with today — we weigh short- and long-term trade-offs thoughtfully in our decision-making
  • Drive for impact — we own the responsibility to deliver tangible value to our partners and clients
